That's Henry Ford (of automobile fame) on the left and Thomas Alva Edison (prolific inventor) on the right.

I am going to guess, being you like history, that it may be either political figures (presidents of two countries--although I don't know who they are. Maybe the French president then with a Canadian president?) OR, it could be two scientists who are renowned for their work in science. Scientists who developed a vaccine (Polio, smallpox, etc).

My good sir! As a car enthusiast, the gentleman on the left is Henry Ford. And the gentleman on the right is Thomas Edison. Do i need to explain the modern technology too?
