I just made two contacts from Belize V31TX and V31XX on 10 meters.
My radio is from 1990s a Yaesu FT 890
See you don't need a brand new radio to do this

No but that’s so close to the CB band and before I got my license I was talking to someone in New Zealand a few times during high sunspot activity near the 10 meter band, maybe we are in that cycle since it’s hard to do that on 10 Meters back when I was using it. Congratulations on the contact there , good thing they speak English as their native language in that Central American country
Do you still have this radio, I still have mine. I'm thinking about playing with it again

It's a picture of the President Lincoln HR 2510
Yeah I do, I have 3 different ones, one modified for CB , one not modified and the 2600 export

I have the license but not the equipment yet.
Why?
But no, these fuckin ICOMs we use barely work across the harbour most days
That doesn't even look old! I can't be older than, like, 15 years.
Oh, okay. 1990s. I was off by a few years.
On a xiegu g90 I made Belize on ft8 on 80 meters.
How is that radio? I seen one at a swap meet for a low price, but walked away because I know nothing about them.
I mainly run Yaesu for a modern radio. If I want to run my really old stuff, Then I would be my use my old tube gear like my Johnson Viking Valiant II or Hammarlund HX-50/50A
I am big fan of vacuum tube radios
It's all right for a 20w rig. Amazing built in tuner.
No, but it sounds very cool to do it.
Can't say I ever have.
Nope
