Have you ever called a radio station?

Being an old timer now, I still listen to the radio in the car as opposed to spotify or podcasts etc. However, I have never called to enter one of their contests. Have you? Did you win anything?

I called a live broadcast National show once and actually got on. I made a few comments on the topic that was in discussion and made the talk show host laugh. It was spur of the moment and if I had thought about it longer I might not have called in... LOL

Sure, lots of times

I won tickets to see Kiss, Wasp, Alice Cooper, Poison, Duran Duran, Men At Work, Weird Al Yankovic and many more.

I even won tickets with a back stage pass once

Then there was a chicken calling contest that a radio station held. I didn't win, but had lots of fun and got to be on radio and TV.

Radio stations don't do cool stuff like this anymore

Oh yeah, the re-dail button was a game changer for calling in.

Before we got a pushbutton phone, we had a rotary phone.

Try dialing fast on that kind of phone

Yeah my grandmother still had one of those as late as 2005. She's obviously dead now

When I was much younger, yeah. Mostly dedicate songs and stuff. Occasionally to try to win something and never did.

I did quite a few times for concert tickets. Didn't win, but I was always close. Like if it was the 10th caller who wins I'd always somehow be the 11th or 9th. I also called in to a midnight metal radio show with a song request. The dude a little later reminded me on the actual airwaves that who I asked for were coming to our area lol (COVID ruined the show though as this was in the beginnings of the pandemic).

Yeah thats why I've never called. What's the point if it is so hard to get through
