Has anyone else been experiencing difficulty with their PS4’s the past few months?

Wondering if this is like an iPhone situation? Where the new model comes out (PS5) and then all the old models start running really badly, making you want to upgrade? My PS4 has been randomly turning itself off in the middle of usage, and glitching a lot and freezing, is my console crapping itself or has everyone else been experiencing this too? My partners PS4 Pro has also been doing the same thing. And we’ve both had our consoles for years without a problem until the last few months, since the last major system update.

I read the main question and I was immediately like "oh shit, it better not be just like they did with those Iphones" and then it was like the first thing you pointed out in the "More details" section.

I suspect you're probably correct about it since it's been going on since the last major system update. I haven't noticed because I made the sitch to PS5... my kid says he hasn't played the PS4 lately so he can't tell me if his was.

I hope they didn't do that... that's such a bullshit move for any company to do.

I just dug up a memory where this was happening before around the time I first moved back to the States. So possibly just before 2016-ish or after that... They did some update that was messing with the online games, which is all I played back them (The Division or COD). It took them like a week to fix it. So my fingers are crossed for all the PS4 users out there.
