Should you believe everything you see on social media?

Most people will post about the new home they bought or the apartment they decided to rent out. They may even and post a picture of the keys or they post the inside of their brand new, nice and expensive car with an American Express card flashing in the front. Naturally, your first thought is to congratulate them and not be a hater but could it be what you see is not the full truth?

This is true but I take interest in seeing others views on social media and the realness of it all. Do you fall in the category of the mindless sort of brainwashed people who are heavily influenced by social media post or do you fall into the category of “I don’t care.” Or the “You can’t fool me.” Category.

I suppose if I intended to meet someone I'd check it out, but otherwise I do not care if the other person's "reality" is genuine or fabricated as it has no influence on me.

That is not to say that I can't tell when someone is BSing me if I test it. I just don't care if it has no effect on me.

This actually does tell a lot. Social media is like a domino effect. You see one person post something good, inspiring or an accomplishment and you think “Well I have to keep up to so what I can I post to keep up?” Even when you know what you posted or the caption under it doesn’t tell the full story of the what you posted and why you posted it. It’s just there, up for speculation while you rack up all the likes and the “Congratulations.”

I honestly feel like more people show realness on social sites such as this one more than they do on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or even Tik Tok. I mean because here, it’s no point in faking. You have nothing to prove. It’s more about learning and asking rather than a portrayal of a fake life while other social sites are the complete opposite. We feel like we have to have everything together, we have to post about God even though you know you barley believe in him or don’t believe at all or even though you know your own personal dedication to God but you feel others must know for you to be seen in a certain light. You feel like you have to put others down to bring yourself up or feel better about yourself and your insecurities. You don’t post your accomplishments because you truly see it as an accomplishment or because you truly are proud of it but most people post their accomplishments on other social sites for the likes and the acknowledgment rather than just being proud of their selves in that moment. Social media is so toxic and draining and it’s slowly but surely killing and ruining the world. Which is why I’m slowly working on moving away from it and depending on it. I’m starting with deleting my Facebook and Instagram and I will go from there.
