How long for a 5,000-BTU window air conditioner to kick on?

i just brought a 5,000-BTU Window Air conditioner.

it has been on for 30 mins i did not hear the compressor kick on yet.

Depends is it a 3 in 1 unit or an install unit?

Also, have you refilled the coolant tank?

Check your settings you might have the fan on only

its on high cool mode

It’s summertime check around try different combinations. It should be working unless it’s defective. If not be prepared to take it back it doesn’t take 30 minutes to kick in. It should be kicking in within three minutes.

Turn the thermostat down real loud to see if it kicks in if that doesn’t work, then box it back up pull it out
