I have an Apple computer and a Windows machine. I only use my Google Chromebook.
You have your choice of a Chromebook or a Chromebox. A Chromebox is for those with a a keyboard and monitor. It replaces your tower.
(It's hard to tell by the picture, but they're very small)
With the Chrome OS, you can download Android apps. Not all will work on a Chromebook, only about two million of them. Mine is an HP with a touch screen. I paid $180 for it. I highly recommend them, unless you are into powerful gaming or use Photoshop or Auto Cad. They're lightweight, have great battery life, boot in 8 seconds, and don't require paid updates or virus protection.

Microsoft is more reliable. So may apple products I had, I had little control over, like my IPOD and IPHONE, I had to use their software and buy their products to work a lot of the stuff, but with Microsoft I didn't have to do that! And iTunes, wow, I never had so many problems with glitches, freezes, and songs not working because of format issues!
Whichever is cheaper. Both are made by little kids in chinese or indian sweatshops. I'll plug Linux here. I've been using Linux almost exclusively for over 10 years. I'm not a programmer or computer geek by any stretch. All it requires is getting used to a different ecosystem of apps.
What distro?
I've installed about a 100 versions of Linux. The Ubuntu versions are by far the easiest to use. I used Lubuntu. Mint and Peppermint were kind of fun. Puppy is lightning fast, but not user friendly. Linux is great for people who have old computers and want to breathe new life into them.
@WalnutButter Yeah, Ubuntu is a "just works" kind of distro which is what I need. Early on back in 2008-2010 when I first started using Linux, I tried out Mint and Fedora and didn't like them as much. But these days a lot of the major distros and even some of the more middle-tier are looking very polished so I might have to try looking around again just to see what's out there.
Fedora was not user friendly in my opinion. Now I'm happy with Google Chrome. It's the best in my opinion.
Microsoft of course. Apple is crap by comparison.
It feels like Microsoft is far more annoying, forcing Edge and Bing on Windows users.
Apple forces safari and siri. They're the same in that aspect
@NYlatefun yes! I tried it a few times. Found it kinda annoying. You have to have music in their format and they put a block that you can't play it on anything else.
Both are run by crappy liberal idiots; i didn’t vote.
Apple makes great desktop computers but everything else kinda sucks.
I feel this a proxy for a liberal vs conservative question. 🍿
Microsoft ofc!
C. Neither. They both are shit.
