Why does it take so long to download images on my threads?

Sometimes they don't download at all. This orange line on top showing downloading is slower than a snail. Emails won't load. It takes a long time here to download or read threads. I have to keep restarting my computer. It all started when we had a power failure. Since then my internet has been acting up. I tried rebooting my router but no improvement. My anti-virus shows nothing wrong. What the stink is happening?

Reboot your router as well as your computer, see if that helps. There should be a tiny button somewhere on the cabinet of your router. Most usually need a paperclip point to reach. Power it off. Let it sit for ten minutes, and then start it up again. Last time I had issues like that, rebooting the router worked. Took two tries, but I think I didn't;t let it sit without power long enough for it to do it's little reset-thingy.

Oops- forgot to ask if you have the most recent version of your computer Operating System loaded and working?

I'm still using windows 10. I haven't upgraded to 11 yet. I'm still getting used to 10. 😞

I don't use Windows, but if you are not running a currently supported version of your op sys, there might be processing time issues.

Are you using a wi-fi or a ethernet cable?
I suggest that you start with downloading software to identify where from your CPU to the server the slowdown occurs.
My suspicion is issues with your or your neighbors wi-fi.

Perhaps do a ping?
Work out how long time that the signal take to go to each step?

There's software you can run that will help you figure that stuff out.

It sometimes happens to me as well. At the moment I'm having a lot of trouble watching 'YouTube' videos, because it's often just incredibly slow to play when I click on one.

Yeah, I don't know what it is. Guess I'll have to take my router in for a replacement. This is the 4th time I have had to have a router replaced. They always seem to fail on me after a year or so.

Probably your modem running slow from internet provider after losing power

Could be. I have had to replace their routers before when they crapped out. Seems every other year they go bad. Must be made in China.

Yeah they don’t last long anymore, I have to reset the modem and the router every so often because the internet doesn’t respond

I've tried that 3 times now. So far it is working okay at this minute. I better not hold my breath.

It is scary that every now and then you have to reboot an electronic device. By unplugging it. But in your situation. You have unplugged it through the power failure. Unless there might have been some voltage spikes when the power was restored.
Imagine having to reboot an airplane at 30k feet by shutting down the engines!

It has nothing to do with the power outage.

If rest of the internet is fine with other sites.

It's the browser. Try switching to IE edge or chrome.

Or setup your email on inbuilt mail application.

You might need to do a factory reset on the router. Check the internet speed from a wired connection first, though. It may be your internet provider.

You have a bad connection with your internet provider. This problem is on their end. You should talk to them about it.
