The aerial auto Alef Aeronautics is working on in a San Mateo warehouse is a glimpse of what could be the future of transportation. The company just received federal approval to test its vehicle in Silicon Valley and fly its latest prototype for a public exhibition.

Flying cars have been around for decades. the problem is similar to electric cars - not enough infrastructure to deal with them properly or safely.

A flying car needs different refuelling and more landing and takeoff space. A lot of public change is needed to make them commonplace.

Given that it would require a pilot's license (by the laws of every state I'm familiar with AND the FAA), I wouldn't be able to.

I didn't think about that but you're right. It would probably require a pilot's license which I don't think a lot of people would be able to pass.

When most people can't even drive properly on land, it will be a death sentence for them to move up to air traffic.. Apart from a few prototype vehicles, flying vehicles will not be put into serial factory production.

That depends on if they are electric or not. If they are electric, absolutely not.
If I am allowed by my generous government to have a full tank of fuel, then I will fly around to my hearts content
