Yes and no.

NFT and crypto bros will try the same shit with generative AI tools that they did with the concepts behind NFTs and blockchain: they'll fundamentally miss the actual revolutionary technology and actual uses to find ways to make up more scams.

For some, that'll be pretending they have an AI investment model that promises stellar returns and will scam money from "investors" in much the same way they did with NFTs.

For others, they'll make some weird app with basic out of the box AI libraries and call it something stupid, and scam people into buying it or something.

But actual, legit Artificial Intelligence work - like actual blockchain technology and uses - exist outside these scammers.

I think the biggest danger it could present is that a particularly well-connected, just-smart-enough-to-sound-qualified, fast talking tech bro could convince a government to hand over key processes to be run by a black box AI.

Or bad actors using AI to create massive scam or disinformation campaigns à la Cambridge Analytica to sow disorder and chaos in foreign (or local) governments.

But equally the possibility exists for sort of "positive vigilantism" in using the same tools to, say, flood right wing databases with fake info generated by AIs and submitted with enough frequency to crash those systems.

But scammers gonna scam and as long as you have critical thinking skills and reasonable caution, you'll be ok.
