A few years ago, for some reason, these started showing up in my Documents folder but only on the C drive. Nearest I can figure, when I open a file from, that folder, it creates one of these, for some reason but, I never saw them before until about 6 or 7 years ago. It looks to me like there's a number of "hidden" things in that folder that are visible, for some reason. Someone suggested I can just delete these WRL's so, I did but, they keep coming back when I open another file. I had well over 100 before I deleted them. Now, there's at least 100 more! I'm just concerned that, by deleting them, I might also be deleting some of my info.

This should answer your question. Basically if you kill word before closing a document it will leave this temp file that is normally deleted.

Except for a rare power outage, I never do that but these things keep stacking up in my Documents folder.
Thanks! So, I guess they CAN be deleted, then?
Yes. They are temp files after all.
But, how do I get them to stop piling up? I never had that on any of my other computers.
No idea
