I think the internet has no conscience. That we as a society are losing our humanity as we become less and less connected. People would rather live in thier own little world that caters to them now then try to interact and understand other people. And it will only get worse with the metaverse. We risk becoming a 3 tiered society. Some that live in reality, some that live entirely in the Metaverse (live, work and play), and some that split thier time between the two.
I feel I can say this because I'm from one of the last generations that was pre-internet. And I do see a marked difference in the generations as a whole that have followed.
yes and no, yes they rely on anonymous to write horrible things, but no physical injury, so not worst so no.
except those who rile up people to anger people and to want revenge that is dangerous should get censored so nobody gets motivated but specifically that stays is not censored!
"Influencer culture" is just really toxic and unrealistic because people aspire to be people who have their photos filtered and nowadays people think they are above people because they have the latest designer items they can afford and make people feel low about themselves etc.
thank you! :)
I don't know if it brings out the worst or just attracts the worst. Maybe it is both.

I would say rather that it obfuscates the best in people. This makes a lot of people forget they are talking to a person rather than an npc character in a video game or something, so they behave accordingly.
Sometimes Behind That Computer Curtain. xxoo
Yes, it can but it can bring out the best in people as well..
People feel free to express their worst views under the cloak of Internet anonymity. ("Keyboard courage," as it's often termed.)
That is literally what the algorithm does to encourage engagement. Humans are more likely to respond to negativity then they are positivity.
with out a doubt... see the folks who comment on here who goes against you for attacking their POV
No it brings out the true ugliness in people.
It most certainly can. In all cases though? No.
Anonymity certainly does
without a doubt
If anything it brings out who they really are
Must I quote Oscar Wilde?
Not necessarily
