What would you change on your SMARTPHONE KEYBOARD?

If I could change anything on my smartphone keyboard, there are three things I would change...

1. Move the I and O keys farther apart. I often hit the wrong one, with common words like "is" becoming "us" and "of" becoming "if"

2. Put more space between the bottom letter row and the space bar. I often hit the space bar instead of a bottom row letter, which results in a split word, so things like "compose" becomes "co pose"

3. Put more space between the Z and the shift arrow. I often hit the Z instead of the shift when capitalizing words, especially at the start of a sentence, so "Put more space..." becomes "zput more space"

What about you? What would you change?

Or maybe you are perfectly happy with it as it is?

An an iOS user: I don't think it should cover just 30% of the vertical space. It should be presented fullscreen with bigger buttons and a text editor. I prefer to write with my thumbs because it's easier while holding the phone, but this makes it easy to make mistakes because my thumbs tips are way bigger the buttons.

The keyboard is fine for me.
The mouse on the other hand is an issue. Especially considering most gaming or high tech style mouses are catered for right hand users, I luck out pretty badly. I know I can change the configuration for left hand but it’s not the same.

My biggest bugbear at the minute is you use the space key to switch between languages and it's so easy to do accidentally and not notice.

The enter button (which auto correct has just changed to entertainment) is too close to the delete button.

I don't have that function on my phone, but it sounds interesting. What languages can the spacebar change to?

Any you want. You just select from options then swipe left right to switch between your choices. It doesn't give me new letters but it helps when you need one with a little roof on like tŷ. The problem is if you don't pay attention and accidently switch to the welsh it'll do stupid stuff such as won't automatically capitalise i to I or take out certain punctuation marks so can't becomes can't. Same with words, it's 50/50 if you get pencil or pensil etc. You end up writing like an illiterate idiot.

Find that auto correct feature and dismantle it!
I typed something and used the word can't and autocorrected it to can. Change the entire meaning of my opinio. 🤬

All for #2! I've gone voice to text and it's almost ready for prime time no matter how much training you give it. ThenAI voice to texts are light years better now.
