What is the point of using social media in the first place?
Sites like facebook are useless in my opinion.
Video hosting sites, online gaming platforms, and question and answer sites have their uses, but sites where the only point is talking to people are just obsoleted by phones, game chat, instant messengers, etc.
Why would I want to be bombarded with what everyone I know is doing every day? (let alone while being spammed with ads, rants, politics, and sjw posts), when I could just text someone and not have to deal with any of that.

Having actual relationships with people instead of the shallow crap people post. Life's messy. Unless you followed my video series I posted in 2020 when I was in ICU fighting Covid and other people's similar things, most users - especially younger ones - try to project a perfect existence. That's why suicide rates are climbing.
I did this. My Instagram is still deactivated two years later. Why? I was pregnant and working full time and didn’t have the time or energy to continue posting anything, so I deactivated it. After I gave birth, I was diagnosed with postnatal depression, and I was dealing with a lot of family drama and fallouts. In the end, I completely forgot about my deactivated account until last month.
I quit social media back in 2019. I’m a lot happier because I’m not constantly comparing my life to other people’s. People make more of an effort to get in contact with me and remember my birthday. It’s interesting how my social life went up when my social media went out.

Multiple reasons. It can be they’re going through dilemmas or mental health challenges with social media while taking time away to just focus on themselves. But the underline reason is to mostly find peace within themselves and focus on whatever it is their goals are.
Retrain your brain.
The research on the effects of long term frequent use of social media is actually frightening. Kids today don’t care for the same reason kids fifty years ago didn’t care about the warnings against smoking.
They haven’t developed the necessary cognitive function to meaningfully weigh the benefits against the risks. This is where good parents would step in, but we’ve basically outlawed those. So, “Smoke up, Johnny!”, you’re gonna live forever! Ell oh ell!Social media is a complete waste of time and doesn't enhance your life in any shape or form. I quit ALL social media 5 years and I haven't missed it for a second. Being on here is enough time-wasting for me.
The point as I see it is, personaly, I went through a bit of a rough patch over the last year or so. If I had been keeping up on social media, it would have destroyed me. I have taken the time and gotten back into it.
To disconnect from the toxicity.
Social media really is bad. There should be a timeout for everybody after X amount of hours.Living a social media free life, not everyone likes it and most of us don't even need it.
Wanting to disconnect from all the fakeness in the world.
Because people have goals in life and social media is a distraction. I don't have instagram to protect my mental health.
I deleted mine cause social media will ruin relationships depending on the situation I deleted mine due to respect of my boyfriend asking me to
maybe to take a break from it n to focus more on other things irl
Social media detox helps to improve your mental health because some people can be so rude online.
Burnout I would assume. I've never joined any of them unless this site counts.
