What decade did society be addicted to social media?

I know that by the 2000s we already had instant message softwares, but I’m talking about the social media where people scroll endlessly for hours. I feel like social media evolved in the 2000s being for discussion, then in gelid 2010s it started to become a place of content consumption and then by the late 2010s people become more and more addicted to it

Edit: my personal stance on this, I think yeah first social medias were late 2000s, but society really caught on with feeds in 2012-2013 with the popularization of Instagram and Twitter, YouTube played some parts here too. Then I think it really got to the next level in 2016 with musically becoming more popular morphing into TikTok in 2016-17, TikTok really changed everything, especially when other apps starting copying them.
