Why has social media grown so much?

I've been wondering that myself since MySpace (2003) and similar social media sites have emerged.

One thing I know is that these social medias were designed with psychological tricks in mind to keep the user from taking a break and the peers inviting others to join/follow them on there or seeing "something funny" or that it was an easy way to stay in touch.

Women have especially fallen for it. I've had girls ghosting/not replying to me after i told them I don't do social media. Imagine telling a woman "I don't smoke/vape" and she stops talking and replying to you permanently. That's how I perceive it.

Because we are living in the last days if you believe in Christ he's coming back and taking this World, that is why all these Hurricanes and that's why the Anti-Christ is trying to get dictatorship of the White House to think things over. People are gathering on Social Media because they are running scareless. Believe me, I can foresee into the future. If Miss Harris is not elected, we will have a Civil War

I think because society is becoming exceedingly verbal and less visual so social media allows you to use words to interact with each other. The reason people trade words for things might be that things are now getting expensive and require more time to attain than conversations with others.

Because the way this world is today and how society changed compared to how it is today , back then before social media was really a thing people would actually be more open and respectful to each other it was a much better time than how it is today , Ever since Covid hit us , this society has become more distant from each other and people

Human brains are lazy and evolved to seek specific stimulus.
In the natural world obtaining those stimulus required also obtaining many other healthy things with it so the stimulus was functional. In social media the brain can be supplied a much high ratio of stimulus to other healthy things.

It allows people to create their own little world that caters to them. Most people, especially women, would rather live in a pleasant fiction than a harsh reality.
