Have you ever had a penfriend?

Question

I had and it was good but the internet was not so common and reachable :) So didn't last long. I am planing to have one again. What about you? If you had how was it and what was the subjects you mostly talked about?

I tried to establish a penpal many times when i was young. I was kind of obsessed with the concept, and not very aware of how the world worked. I tried the “message in a bottle” in various bodies of water and rivers. I tried attaching a messages to helium balloons and letting them go. I would leave notes inside of library books.
When i first had access to the internet it kind of came back and i spent a lot of time in foreign language chat rooms trying to meet people whose cultures might be very different from mine. Translation apps were not as common then, so it didn’t work out. Ell oh ell!
None of my attempts panned out. So i’ve never had a penpal.

twice. in 5th grade my homeroom teacher made us have quebecquois pen pals because we'd do a field trip vacation thing there towards the end of the year. and in 9th grade had to have on in german class because we'd do an exchange thing with them. from what i remember it was pretty ackward

I had one for a short time. It was cute. Actually found a note in a bottle from some 5th grade class. Although I found it 5 or 6 years latter. The address was the school so they forwarded my note to the girl who threw the bottle in the ocean. She responded back And we sent letters 4 or 5 times back and forth. We both were busy people so we stopped after a short while.

Yes. Back in elementary school (long time ago), in fifth grade, we each had a penpal. Mine was a girl my age from Germany. We sent letters back and forth during the school year, talking about our countries, family, school, etc. It was interesting to learn that people in Germany are not much different than people in the US. I don't know what happened to her after that.

I suppose if you can't the few people I talk to on here, then yes. We mostly joke around and talk about normal life. The majority is trying to get them to spit out their drink at a joke of mine.

Are you talking about a penpal? Yeah that’s been going on for a long long time even in magazines. People talked about seeking out penpals when I was a kid. I remember seeing that in pro wrestling magazines
