How long should you wait before deleting a deceased person from your contacts? Should you even delete them? What factors come into play when deciding?

I don't delete people. Its too final.

I dont keep them intentionally but will do it a year plus later

After x time passes and I notice it I'll delete them

I delete them within a week or two. Move the grieving forward!

It took me forever to take my parents off my "ICE" list, but every once in a while I look at their profile pics on my phone. I couldn't bring myself to delete that. Social media accounts got shut down quickly to avoid fraud and other massive issues, though.

It depends on my relationship with them. If they were an acquaintance or more casual friend, I delete fairly quickly. A close friend on family member, never.

Im with you. Deleting close people is too much for me. Its the radical acceptance their gone And most times I'm not ready for that.

This reminds of the scene from Breaking Bad when Jesse kept falling his deceased gf’s (Janet) phone number just to hear her voice about leaving her a message. He kept calling it just to hear her voice recording until the cell phone company eventually discontinued her plan.

At that point he stopped.

I haven't had to think about this problem in my life. My grandparents and other relatives of their generation didn't have mobile phones and they're the only people who have died so far.

I lost a spunky and adorable 16 year old friend back when I was 21. It was a popular chat house and the internet was new to a lot of people, so we were all close. I was one of the last people she spoke with as she went to bed really late. It ripped the forum apart. It ended up a ghost town anyway.
