What can be done to end AI development and erase those that were already made?

Any sane person knows that its a serious mistake to replace things people do with machines, and that it will completely destroy the economy once even creative jobs are replaced by AIs. But no one has said anything about how to force society to 180 on AI progress and use.

People just complain and do nothing, but what can even be done?

Not a lot short term, one of the drivers for this is marketing, it’s a buzz word, organisations are jumping onto the buzz word bandwagon. At some point security, legislation and regulation will catch up, that will put in place some structure on what is and what is not allowed.

Also the constant reference to it as Ai also drives it, if people stopped using Ai as the reference name, it would lose some of its marketing buzz. It is not Ai, we might get there with quantum computing, however at present we have LLMs - Large Language Models that are pre trained on a lot of things, they are programmed for specifics. The likes of ChatGPT use deep learning a subset of machine learning.

it is here to stay, there are some excellent uses of it for example in potential cancer detection with breast cancer, where it can detect suspect areas far better than a human.

AI means artificial intelligence, as in something that simulates being intelligent but is actually just doing algorithms and can't think at all.

If we made a computer that can actually think, it wouldn't be called "artificial intelligence", it would just be called "intelligence" or "alive".

Generative AIs are the biggest problem right now, though clerical and manufacturing ones also should be ditched, they steal so many jobs and ruin product diversity and skill diversity.

Cancer is caused by infections and is simple to detect already through blood tests.

Artificial intelligence is any program that can do complex tasks that make it appear as if it can think, when in fact it can't. Language model programs are part of that.

The Turing Test is what is the requirement, saying Ai is simply people being lazy and pushing marketing. While ChatGpt has supposedly passed, it was a fairly rigged test and not a modern version.
Again you are simply using marketing jargon and perpetuating that we have genuine AI.
We are very close to it, however it is limited to programmed restraints. For example if you have one operating in the manufacturing sector and ask random rubbish, it will not be able to respond the same as on outside that programmed area, same with a medical one designed to find cancer cells, it will not give you the best night spots in Aalborg.

The turing test is to test for intelligence. If it were to pass that test, it would be a lifeform, not an AI.

An AI is specifically an AI because it simulates tasks and responses that appear intelligent on the surface under specific conditions, but are actually just automated routines and can be revealed as such under different conditions (like the 2 examples you mentioned).

Artificial intelligences cannot think, that is why they are called "artificial".

An NPC in a game or a chatbot or image generator is a good example of what an AI is, whereas something like Bender from futurama, or C-3PO from Star Wars, or Data from Star trek would be an inorganic lifeform, not an AI.

Economic trends are battled by other economic trends. People simply need to make something better thats not AI, and AI will stop being profitable.

I hear drones have been implemented with this advanced AI tech system as a means to weaponize them for militarized use and it has way better reaction time and smarter than humans. It certainly seems like pandora’s box has long been opened for AI more than 10-15 years ago


Best case scenario (in my opinion)- worldwide gridded EMP killswitch similar to some systems they use in movies but will restart all power grids


Worst case scenario (in my opinion)- possible rapture before destruction, and we won’t ever see either coming

Actually the problem is job and skill loss because people develop AIs to take over jobs.

In that case, there are certain jobs in every industry Im sure that would require manual labor and won't ever get automated until it has served its purpose in this era.

How far-fetched would it be to think that traditional jobs may become a thing of the past 30/40/50 years from now and a new societal structure is implemented to drive the economy?

Manual labor was one of the first types of jobs that AIs took over. Many manufacturing plants for example use machines to build.

Now that AI is starting to generate speech, illustration, video, music, writing, and code, it threatens to completely collapse the economy because jobs that require thinking and creativity were all we had left that AIs can't do.

Even worse, if people depend on AIs to make everything for them, our species will eventually no longer be able to do any of those skills and everyone will become a bunch of talentless idiots.

There is no societal structure that can replace economics aside from being slaves or going back to the stone age. So all its going to do is make the poverty sector grow and the IQ and talent averages plummet.

I agree with your points but there will still remain manual labor jobs that are hard to replace by AI unless those jobs are no longer necesarry to our world

The lack of complexity in task manipulation that has kept AI from replacing those specific jobs is being developed in generative AI.
