What is a piece of technology that became popular within your lifetime only to be defunct today?

45rpm records

Transistor radios.

4 track and 8 track tape players in cars.

Quadraphonic home music systems and records.
Betamax video cassette recorders.
Laser discs.
Rotary dial phones were already popular in my lifetime, but are now defunct

Mimeograph machines (like copy machines) were also around before I was born.

beepers! Someone calls you and you have to find a pay phone (<βanother one) fast to get back to them lol
CD players! I used to bump my cd 💿 boombox in my riom facing the street so all the neighbors could hear my awesome Backstreet Boys songs lol
instant cameras or whatever their real names were. You would click to take pic and the photo would print out shake it in the air as it reveals itself. I see today many are coming up with mini similar devices to mimic those.
cars that had phones attached my parents had the Lincoln navigator with the giant phones in the middle. I thought they were so cool phones in the car 😂 😎 📞 🚗 beep beep!
Typewriters: we already had computers but I remember my aunt had typewriter and we would play with it typing stuff
That BECAME popular then obsolete in my lifetime so far. So, generally, I will not be predicting things that will become obsolete in my lifetime.
Oh, gee, there's a lot... and that's a valuable life lesson to learn: Don't get invested in the hip technological / media craze of the day because it will quickly be obsolete.
1. Cassette tapes and using a cassette tape and a cassette recorder as a storage mechanism for computer programs.
2. 8-track tapes.
3. Quadraphonic stereos.
4. Compact Discs (aka CDs).
5. CD-ROMs.
6. Laser Discs
7. Betamax then VHS videotapes.
8. "Blue Ray" discs.
9. Seagate storage.
10. Every size of floppy disk and disk drives.
11. Most handheld calculators.
12. Cryptocurrency... (Well, it WILL become obsolete because it is anything BUT crypto... It never really was not-obsolete because it is a fundamentally worthless technology.) NFTs.
