Are you buying the new Apple Airpods 4 when they release this Friday, September 20?

I don't buy Apple products unless I absolutely MUST. Thus, the only Apple product I own is an iPad Mini, and that's only because I needed an iOS device to do testing for customer systems, because lots of my customers use iOS and I need to be able to duplicate their issues. Thus, it's a business expense, and I only use it for work (and as little as possible).

Besides, the nature of my job precludes using noise-canceling headphones of any kind - it's a safety issue. I also would not wear any kind of pods at work that weren't on a cord, because they're far too likely to get lost and be unretrievable (I often work on construction sites, where there are lots of holes and gaps for small things to get lost in).

These are my work headset - about $40, and I've had them for about 5 years. Not exactly "premium" but I wouldn't cry if they got lost or destroyed.

On the very rare case when I would be listening to music in a quiet situation and didn't want to bother someone else, I would use my Shure IEMs, which sound way better than any earbuds - but they're wired.

I've considered getting the Sony earbuds for years, but I literally can't defend buying them, because I would almost never use them. I rarely travel anywhere that I don't drive, and I have great audio systems in my vehicles, and I have speakers all over my house, so I'd use those earbuds maybe two or three times a year - and it's just not worth spending $300+ for that. I use the wired IEMs instead.

Nope I still have my AirPods Pro from last year. My rule of thumb is get the latest if you do not have them, if you do wait until the changes in functionality, user experience are enough to make it a reason to change. At present there is no reason to change to a new one if you have existing Air pods with noice cancellation.

Nope. I’ve still got my AirPods gen 2 from when I bought them in 2020, they still work great, no need to waste money on the latest thing.
