I haven't used an Anti-Virus or Firewall in two years and haven't gotten a Virus or Trojan in that time. How is your experience with this?

I swear, your anti-virus software IS A VIRUS. TURN IT OFF. It is designed to flag everything you download as a trojan or virus and then charge you money to remove it. My computer has no anti-virus and the Firewall is permanently disabled, and I haven't gotten ANY Malware in two years, and it only costed $300 and can run StarCraft 2 on Medium settings with portrait animations enabled.

I am in the same situation as I have no anti-virus software nor do I have any other so-called protective software installed on my computer. I haven't been the victim of any trojan, virus or similar denial of service attack.

However, I don't surf the net other than GaG and the occasional search for a word or expression on a secured site.

What I never ever use is a search engine from this company that is known to track you (I will refrain from giving the name) and my browser settings are set to maximum protection and filters anything that is related with any possible pornographic content.

As for the emails, I only have a school email address and the address is only known to a few people (less than 10). I don't have any banking data or access on my computer.

Either you are not online much or your computer has antivirus software that you're not aware of and this is entirely possible. If you're using a Microsoft operating system of any kind or you are just lucky. You won't be lucky forever. Get some antivirus software and install it.

When I used to run anti-virus, I got "viruses" all the time. It flags everything, including other anti-viruses, as a virus. Norton and McAfee are the worst. They both consider one another's software to be a "Virus".

Try Malwarebytes. I use it with none of the issues you mention. If you go without any anti-virus software eventually you will have severe problems. Computer viruses are real and not a scam. to sell software.

I've always had the nagging suspicion that the viruses are written by the anti-virus companies. They always have a "fix" within minutes of the new attack.

What's a computer? Is that like a large tablet? Never had a virus on my phone... The EULA & Terms conditions are creepy enuf for most apps...
