How do you tell when something is AI generated?

Well, the key thing to look for when trying to understand fake from real when looking at pics of people is paying attention to the face. Their faces are usually a bit too flawless. There is an absence of blemishes or "face-fuzz". There is a lack of aging around the eyes if you know they are older. And there is a brightness to all AI generated pics that is not produced by artificial light or daylight.
Most AI pics are set in unlikely scenes, such as a public place but there are no passerbys in the background. Or an unlikely scene such as the one above: At what point have those two ever hung out? Why would they?
And the last thing about AI generated pics is that they are usually just a little too perfect; never a hair out of place, never too much detail to the places that show ones' age, the mouth, corner of the eyes, neck, or hands. In fact, the perfection is so pleasing you don't really actively seek out its presence. You simply really like the picture for what it is. And that is the biggest problem with AI generated pictures, they are a lie that people so easily accept until you point it out to them.
A comprehensive and surprisingly not AI generated answer!
LoL ✌️😄
Usually it's textures and colours being off. AI is limited by rendering power, so its images are often inconsistent. There are tools like sightengine which make the detection process easier.
But on the fly, the quickest way is to do a Google reverse image. If you're getting zero hits, then chances are the image is generated.
True. Although some are also stealing others’ or recycling their own AI generated content.
That looks like it was generated in Trynectar. ai, there’s usually always a kind of sheen to certain pictures, and of course the obvious ones of looking at hands or backgrounds or clothing choices
Generally even if it looks realistic, ai stuff always looks a bit fake if you look at it more closely. It looks slightly more drawinglike than a real pic

there's quite a few apps for it... but most of the time it is just quite obvious, lol
What apps do you rate/like to use?
I do not use them and don't need them...
I've just seen a few videos from tech YouTubers about this topic... and I do not remember the apps/sites but they're easy to find
@LiamJHayden thanks! I’ve used that one, and Hive
You can run pictures through an app to see if it is ai
Which apps do you rate/like to use?
If it seems inconsistent with verified facts I let it be and move on. 🤷♂️
Generally, trust your gut. If it doesn't seem right, it's likely AI

Totally! Well, at least with generating AI content 😂
