Why would a business have a website that just says coming soon with no content?

and its been that way for a while like longer than a year or 2 . it features virtually no content and says website coming soon. the business itself is open for business during this time and doesn't do sales online anyways as its a restaurant.

left lost why its maintaining a website with no content though? someone has to be paying the bills for the domain right? there is an annual cost to own the web address right? so what would be the point of paying the fees if there not even using it

Because they are either domain flipping, and waiting for the price to rise enough to sell for a massive profit.

Or they are domain squatting, and holding the domain so the others can't buy.

perhaps but why still pay for it? isn't someone paying an annual fee for the domain address? it must be costing them money right

i don't know has me perplexed and its featured prominently when you search business on google it comes rate up

its possible someone though about creating it years ago than never finished it but why keep paying the annual fee to keep website address each year if there never even going to use it?
