Well , as this is the ONLY form of social media I use then absolutely.


Social media.. it’s ironic as from my perspective there is little “social’ about it , in fact I would term it anti-social media. People hanging out together whilst on their phones , posting to social media instead of being present and giving the group or person the attention they deserve… you know the ones they are physically present with.

Gladly. I feel the world would be a much better place without social media, as a lot of toxicity and negativity would be eliminated. There are some toxic individuals, who should never have been given a platform, as they poison others’ minds and have a negative influence, especially on the young, who are more vulnerable and easily influenced. The amount of medical misinformation and manipulation is also astounding. You’ve got tons of self-proclaimed or self-taught therapists and experts spreading false information or using their platform for bizarre marketing tactics. I’d rather people seek out actual experts for reliable information.

Overall, social media has made people less social, more unempathetic, self-absorbed, and it’s definitely shortened attention spans. Other than YouTube, which offers a variety of educational and informative content and this site, which is more conversation-based, I can’t think of many positives

Yes. This is the only social media website I use. I watch YouTube videos but I don’t have a YouTube account.
I like this website because you aren’t really expected to show your face and real name. On other websites like Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook etc you are kind expected to post videos and pictures of yourselfI have low self esteem about my looks and hate taking pictures.

Also on this website I am not constantly seeing pictures of other people living happier lives than me.
That’s what a lot of people see on other websites like Instagram, TikTok and Facebook etc. Which is bad for the psychological health

I agree with you on all that you say. GAG and youtube are the only social platforms I'm on too. I only use YouTube for yoga, pilates and the news mainly. And on there I am under another name that isn't my real one like on here. And your reasons for not liking social networks like instagram are precisely why I disengaged from them too. On here I feel comfortable showing myself just as a way of letting people know that behind my questions there's a real person.

Thats the same as me. I mostly just watch news stories and listen to music on YouTube. I have a treadmill at my house and Thats when I listen to music the most.
I wish social media was never invented. There have been a lot of suicides in the 21st century were social media was a contributing factor.

Certainly. I couldn't live without food, water, shelter or basic necessities, but social media is not a necessity. It wasn't around when I was growing up and I didn't even access it until I was 55.
That's when I joined Facebook and connected with some of the brightest, best informed people around the world. That was before Facebook started punishing people and blocking information that did not fit its ideological agenda.

I still have Facebook, but it is practically a ghost town. I'm on GAG. But I don't use any other social media. My reason for being on social media was always mostly to learn, not so much to socialize.

Yes I already lived without it when I was younger , at times I feel we should still be without it because of how screwed up people have become over it , back in the day people were more friendly and outgoing and trusting with each other compared to how it is today

Did it before, but it exposes you to lots of different thoughts, opinions and keeps you in contact with people more easily than hooking up with them by phone.

Also you have general information access. Can look up words, read scientific papers.. So much information! It's amazing. WOuldn't WANT to do it after being used to it.

Honestly, I wish I could live without social media completely. I’m actually trying to cut it down a lot—like using it only for study-related stuff, important messages, and calls. But it's harder than I expected. It’s so easy to get distracted even when I don’t mean to. I’m trying though... one step at a time...

Yes and I wish I could, but it would require being forcefully separated from if, like being sent out to live on a farm with no reception for example. I could not live without social media if I still have access to it. It’s an addiction for me.

I find since quitting most social media my mindset has been enhanced significantly. I don't feel I need the engagement and likes to feel validated. I find just conversing with others to be more than adequate

I wouldn't say so. What I feel about you personally is something very unique. And I don't view you simply as an adoring fan. I'm a fan of you and many times when I read your answers to some questions I'd want to respond but I'm not sure if you'd welcome it because what I feel and how connected I feel would be expressed quite intensely. And I wonder if it might be too much for you so I refrain from doing so. I see you, I hear you and I feel you more than you could possibly imagine.
