Are there anyone on GAG that Uses Linux On Their PC?

I do!! I am a huge fan of FOSS. Not just Open Source but Freedom of use, modification and redistribution.

I am currently using an Ubuntu based distro but I want to switch to a Debian based distro without any proprietory binary blobs. Going to the source of Free Software - GNU and FSF.

I agree with that, but whatever you want to use, must work with your hardware. Sometimes you need those proprietory binary blobs to make your computer work right.

Check out the brand PURISM. They make their own hardware and software, entire computer is FSF compliant without any proprietary blobs. They also make mobile phones fully FSF complaint. Their GNU/ Linux based distro is Pure OS.

I heard of them before, but currently I don't have a job, and I don't want to buy anything new until I get one.

The first thing that needs to be FSF compliant in a computer or mobile device is the boot firmware - UEFI is proprietary and carries spying and tracking malware. Hence need to go for open boot hardware whose chips can be rewritten with libre boot type of firmware without any malware.

I had an ubuntu setup once (one of many linux PC's) and it was awesome. The way linux distros work is superior but for the average PC/laptop user with no command prompt skills it is too hard or they just simply can't go without certain features of the major two

I'm from the era of Dos/Windows 3.1. So I got used to using command line stuff way back.

Yep all my devices run some form of GNU/Linux even the few Apple devices I have the 3GS and the iPhone X (not recommended, total pain in the arse but it’s cool!). Main rig is an Arch setup.

You are better at linux than I am. I don't like Arch. Too many updates too often. I like Linux Mint cause I don't need to think so much. lol

That's fair going. No need to deal with the madness that is Arch! Unless you're wanting to live on the bleeding edge though, I’d only be updating once a week or so. It’s not as mad as it sounds, really. And even then, it's only when at least 80% of the deps won't mess up my most important packages. Keeps me from staying in the weeds of updates! Otherwise I just stay on top of kernel or systemd changes.
Arch is like living in a system, and Mint's like using one - to me. You feel every cm of the system with Arch and I love that.
Maybe Manjaro would be a good mix of both?

I've been using Linux since 2013, and Manjaro was one of the first ones I tried. Just a couple years ago, I was using PCLinux because it is rolling but slowly. I had to quit it because I wanted to use yubi keys, and that system doesn't support them. Manjaro broke on me several times.

Ah okay. Getting everything to play nice is a challenge and often an uphill battle... sometimes a complete waste of time and it feels best to quit while you're still sane. PCLinux ohh is that is that the ancient relic of an OS the old timers use? No offence! I don't know if you're showing your age more than me now lol never used it. I have my own Kensington key which is software-agnostic so it can take zero support just fine.

I'm 46, but I chose PCLinuxOS cause it rolls slow. Currently I'm experimenting with SparkyLinux.

I don't know why yubikey doesn't work on PCLinuxOS, I've tried it on other distros and it works just fine on them. I even got it working on a non system D system. But for some reason PCLinuxOS doesn't have the packages I guess.

Sparky is nice actually. I hope you don't have problems with it and it works with your yubikey (s).
Doing some basic research, it seems that there's a lot of packages that essentially need to corroborate together to make sure pam u2f is implemented properly and then have it work with the cli tools like these ones rpm.pbone.net/groups_dept_2_idg_Yubikey.html I found a few packages that you've probably come across already but it's not very clear to me how they're supposed to be put together or what mappings they should have exactly...

I tested on sparkylinux and the yubikeys work.
PcLinuxOS, the dev told me He doesn't want to put in the time to get them working cause only one person wants them to work.

I'm wondering if I could get ever get to the level of just writing a all-in-one package myself. In C. The most I've done is write shiote to communicate between protocols on Arch but that is noob level...

It is hard for me tell old stories from the past. I forget what caused him to PM me that question. It was uncalled for. Anyways, I stopped PCLinuxOS cause He wouldn't make the yubikeys work. I did try to help him find packages to make them work. And to his credit He tried one time for me. But after that just gave up. Currently I'm running Linux Mint to talk to you. I love it, but I wish it worked right with GAG notifications.
