How come YouTube stopped sending emails from your subscriptions?

Years ago, youtube used to email me notification of when someone's new video went up. Then that went away. For the past year or more, they used to send me emails about when a person made a comment on one of my comments. That also went away. I checked my settings and nothing has been changed there. I tried to contact youtube about this, but after looking things over I wasn't able to find out where to contact.

Those emails turned into text notifications, and you should be able to enable/disable that feature through the settings. I know you say you checked but maybe you should look up the process because you can definitely turn those on.

I still prefer emails. Too many people are glued to their phones. I won't be one of them.

I hear you, I just think we’re in a generation where people are impatient and want things instantly. Everything is faster, chopped down, YouTube shorts, clips, it’s as if people’s attention span has shortened. Pop up notifications on YouTube make whatever you want to view just a click away. One tap you can join the live or watch the video. With emails you’ve got to keep refreshing or checking to see if that content creator made a post. Log in, find the post and that’s assuming you don’t get a bunch of spam and junk emails like I do that buries everything. In my mind that’s not a big deal but I know for others it’s one step more than they’d like to do.

I don't think that is entirely true. My smartphone is logged into an email account at all times, and whenever it gets a new email it notifies me.

That is true, you can get email notifications. The only issue is it can be a bombardment of notifications unless you’re often managing it, and emails have become such an out of sight out of mind means of digital communication. I stopped staying on top of managing my emails and I’m 10k deep in junk mail. I think also the engagement for using emails as communication is just far less than other means, it’s phasing out.

I have been on the internet for 22 years, and I feel like the people who communicate digitally is getting worse and worse and worse. I don't even talk to people in text messaging. I only talk to one person in email. As far as phone calls go, I don't really do that either anymore. I just don't have people who want to talk to me. So if things keep going in this direction, I might not even need a phone anymore.

I think so much of it was costly and seldom used. Ask YouTube to change notifications
