How can you tell someone's age over the internet?

I've met people online that get upset if you happen to talk someone "too young". But I have always wondered, how do you even know how old the other person is, unless you meet them in person? People lie about their age among other things... I don't always know why...

I have no idea how you can truly tell but always be cautious. It’s a weird world out there. Sometimes emotional intelligence or experience is a good indicator.

You can tell by what they say or post. Many people on here claim to be in their 30s or even 40s when they are clearly much younger and much more immature. It is either that, or they are truly stupid.

I wouldn't worry about it. The internet is just the internet. Odds are you're not ever going to meet MOST of these people. So who really cares what their age is.

Facetime and Zoom can help, but even in person it can be hard to discern. I met a lady whom I guessed was around 40. Then she introduced me to her 38-year-old daughter. The other extreme can happen as well.
