Why would someone become a moderator on any site?

Imagine spending hours on a job that you don’t even get paid for. Does that status feel them important, or is all this effort just to earn a *drumroll please* $20 Amazon gift card?

I did it because I wanted to try making the site more enjoyable for everyone.

I thought that helping to clean up the trolls and some of the garbage would be worth sacrificing my time, so that others would have a better time, by not having to deal with it.

I still think that's true, but quite honestly, it still wasn't worth the effort, and that's why I ultimately stopped doing it.

I think they are needed to some extent but they seem a bit overzealous

It makes it even worse when the administrators who make the final decisions on everything don't even respect the very rules they created. Spam, trolling, bullying, and especially x-rated posts get a free pass on here, and it happens daily.

For censorship. Because they watch corporate news. They adopt the same mindset of needing to censor any conflicting informstion.
