I did have an issue with it yesterday. I went to take a quick sweep of recent questions and opinions before I left my apartment for work and got an error message from Cloudflare. Having to be at the courthouse I just closed the browser and left for the day. When I checked around lunchtime and then again when I got home the site was working. While I wish I could have checked during the day since all I did was sit in the courtroom drawing stupid shapes in my notebook... mobile phones were not permitted. If they were allowed I would have probably been praying for that problem to be fixed. I was so bored. I did read the online news late afternoon and saw an article about this problem. Apparently it effected close to 20% of internet traffic when it went down. That was including popular sites like 'X' (twitter).

Exactly - X (Twitter) stopped working too.
Well, at least they managed to fix the problem.

Cloudflare went through what may be a DOS attack yesterday. "Intense unusual activity" is all they've said so far. They are focused on getting back up and running before they turn their attention to the unusual activity. It took down a lot of their clients.

Turns out it wasn't an external DOS attack. Cloudflare attacked themselves. A software update included a bug in their BOT mitigation routines. The data it generated grew out of control and ate up resources to the point that it was crashing the servers. That was the source of the "unusual activity". The fix was simple, replace the new program with the old version.

Oh and they whipped the entire BOT Mitigation software development team to death with an ethernet cable. An example had to be made.
