Have you ever fallen victim to debit card fraud or phishing scams?

Please be careful where you use your debit card. I use it for nearly everything, and I woke up to look at my account online to find out someone had taken money out of my account at midnight. I reported it to my bank and had to get a new card. I am also going to dispute the transactions after they clear. Over $800.00 was taken from a transaction labeled. "Sq. GoldieCard". Now I will be more careful where I use it, and will also pay for things with cash most times if I can.

I've never been scammed, but there have been some very funny attempts made by people posing as debt collectors, or IRS employees, or even law enforcement in an attempt to get information.

The Social Security scam attempt was the funniest. They kept asking me to verify my number, so I made one up and they said "that's not it". I argued and said "don't tell me what my SS # is, I know what it is". They'd say "I can't find it in our system". I'd say " maybe because you're in a basement in Nigeria and you don't have access to it". Then he started cursing me out. It was really entertaining.

I've had my card numbers lifted several times when I had a Chase card. There security sucks. But I've never given out information that I know, by law, no one could ask for.
