Well, I experienced a catfish once. I did sense something was off.. like he talked about I could go on a date with his black friend instead :S.. and he really wanted to meet up at his place, but I insisted of doing it in public as always.. felt stupid and super uncomfortable when a totally different man than on the pics showed up, but anyways so happy I stuck to meeting in public and I could just quickly leave the place.

I was once very close to being scammed for money in an airport in South America. I don't speak the native language so I was very lost when I could not find my coworkers who came with another plane. Though, they might had already left if the plane was early..
Some people offered to help me, and I said what institution I worked for, and they knew about it and called them up. I talked with some guy who said the taxi company they normally use was not available anymore and I had to take a city taxi. I had to pay ahead but they would cover it afterwards.
Then these men who tried to help found a cab driver and made me go and withdraw cash to pay an absurd high price.. I could not really grasp how much it was because I did not remember the currency.. I anyway got the cash, and we went to the cab. To my excuse I had just been on a +20 hour trip without any sleep so I was not thinking very clear xp..
Had to walk very far to get to the cab, and I finally remembered an email sent out to me a couple of days ago about scammers at the airport. I found it, and it said exactly where to find the taxi company they used. I went back and finally found it + one of my coworkers! So all good in the end.

Yes I were, I was pretty much young. Once it was on steam (in the age of trading and making money out of it... it was not much, like 20-30 bucks) and second time when I was like 14 and some gypsy asked for money, because he "needed" ticked for train. It was pretty much passive aggressive, trying to show me his knife and such... yeah I was dumb. But for the last 10y, nah, never happened to me.
