Where to Visit in Turkey!

This is my first myTake, so be kind with me. (:

I will start with its costs and will proceed to where to visit. Enjoy myTake. I am ready to answer your questions about Turkey. You can ask everything. :)

1.) Cost

Turkey is currently struggling with a currency crisis and the Turkish Lira is hitting rock bottom. It is really difficult for people who live in this country but it is great for foreigners because they can have a great holiday for a cheap price.

You can see the prices and can do the math. Right now, 1 Dolar is equal to 6,5 Turkish Liras.

2.) The Sea and Beaches

Turkey has very great beaches. Here are some examples. :)

I love the Historical places! You can't swing a cat by it's tail without smacking it's head into some ancient ruins or megalithic structures in Turkey.

Most famous of all right now is probably newly discovered Gobekli Tepe.

Not the best of places to visit with the current state of politics and islamic extremism gaining ground there.

Its kind of similar to Iran and to a certain extent Afghanistan, both were beautiful places to visit until extremism took hold and it became hostile places to go anywhere near.

Have you ever been to Turkey? You only know what you have heard in the news. In the Mediterranean and Aegean Region of Turkey, there is no such risk. I don't deny they are gaining ground but not everywhere.

In Turkey demographic distribution has distinct lines. If you visit places I mentioned in my myTake or the regions I've just said, you will see that Kemalist people live there.

There are a lot of guiding videos recorded by non-Turkish people on Youtube or Internet. You can watch them to have an idea. But please don't judge a country by its politicians or according to the news. (:

Been there many times but as you will notice it is a very minor area that hasn't been gobbled up by the crook called Erdogan.

Also now with sanctions on Turkey it will only be a matter of time before American and or Western tourist become targets of crime or terrorism.

No. Come on. I have been in Turkey since my birth and I have almost never heard of someone being targeted because of their nationality.

For extreme nationalists, Greeks are the archenemy and I know Greek people who come here every once in a while.

I want to make this clear. I don't deny there are extreme nationalists or islamists. But I wouldn't go to Texas if I were a tourist because I know it wouldn't be safe but I could definetely go to New York or Los Angeles as I know that risk of being targeted will be lower than Texas.

It's is same in Turkey. Don't go to Yozgat or I don't know Adana but visit Antalya or İzmir, İstanbul. You will be safer here.

Good take! I'm about one hours drive from the Turkish border her in Burgas, Bulgaria, another hour would probably see me in Istanbul. But the political situation makes me feel uneasy about visiting. I worry about Islamic extremism, how with the difficulties Turkish people are having with sanctions imposed by the USA that they might resent visitors from other countries.

I will visit the Turkey one day for sure but in the mean time, you guys are lucky to have President like Erdogan cuz Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and now Turkey. The EU and fucking US have made habit of destroying the Muslim populated countries for Israel shit.

Whenever he stands up to the US or EU, Turkey gives up on sth later on.
I don't love him not because of his attitude toward other countries but his people. You don't know what it is like to live in Turkey if you are in opposition.

You can't criticize him.
All media is biased now. There is no neutral or oppositon.
We have forgetton what freedom of speech means.

He called the founder of this country and his comrades who we respect as drunkards.

He doesn't have an respect to people who is not Muslim.

Education is terrible in Turkey.
Social services are the same.
Health service is almost unreachable and expensive if you want to go to a nice hospital.

As I told, you only know what you see on TV.

Well, don't worry. Nothing happens here. Believe, I have met a lot of foreigners here who used to be my colleagues. They are all fine and okay.

Even now we hire two Polish and 1 Canadian teacher in our school. No one even cares about their religion.

According to the government, 99.8% of the Turkish population is Muslim (although some sources give a slightly lower estimate of 96.4 percent) with the most popular school of thought (madhab) being the Hanafi school of Sunni Islam. There are also a minority of Sufi and non-denominational Muslims.
-I'm not going to visit a country with %90 Muslims majority. That's suicide even if I was a Muslim.
