This is the first entry for my new "100 Series." The series I've created has a simple motive: To list the top 100 of various categories.

For the first entry of this series, I will be exploring the top 100 populated cities in the world. The population of each city will be in parentheses next to each country's name). Each of these numbers were updated as of December of 2018, and the numbers are approximate. Also, these numbers are the city's population itself, and does not take metro areas into consideration.

100. Incheon, South Korea(3,002,000).

The 100th spot belongs to a city which is best known for hosting the Incheon Global & Fair Festival in 2009, where people from all over the globe celebrated their heritage. It's also the third most populated city in South Korea.

99. Guiyang, China(3,037,000).

The city is in the Guizhou province. It's well-known for having a unique blend of rainforests, and mountains, as well as cool winters, and a subtropical climate in the summer.

98. Jaipur, India(3,046,00).

The city is the capital of the state of Rajasthan. It's nicknamed the "Pink City" for its unique building colors, and has a rich history of royalty.

97. Ibadan, Nigeria(3,050,000).

The city is the Capital of the state of Oyo. It's the largest city in Nigeria from a geographical standpoint, and the city still has ancient walls which protect the city from outside invaders(or so they say they do).

96. Pune, India(3,124,000).

The city is located in the state of Maharashtra. It is best known for the Aga Khan Palace, which is now a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi.

95. Zibo, China(3,129,000).

The city is located in the Shandong province. The city is one of the most well-known cities in the world for manufacturing various things, and is one of the top ranked cities in the world for economic growth.

94. Nairobi, Kenya(3,138,000).

The city is the capital of Kenya. The city is best known for the Nairobi National Park, its wildlife, and its safari tours.

93. Madrid, Spain(3,141,000).

The city is the capital of Spain. The city is well-known for its upscale culture, beautiful parks, and its breathtaking art.

92. Tangshan, China(3,187,000).

The city is part of the Hebei province. It is well known for the infamous 1976 Tangshan Earthquake, which is one of the largest earthquakes of all time, measuring at a 7.8 on the Richter Scale, and killing hundreds of thousands of people.

91. Rawalpindi, Pakistan(3,189,000).

The city is located in the Punjab province. The city is known as a twin city to Islamabad, and the city was initially destroyed in 1493, when it was invaded by the Gakhars.

90. Taiyuan, China(3,212,000).

The city is the capital of the Shanxi province. The city is infamous for its many family dynasties which have taken turns ruling the city.

89. Changzhou, China(3,290,000).

The city is located in the Jiangsu province. It's best known for having several former names, before finally being decided on Changzhou.

88. Hefei, China(3,310,000).

The city is the capital of the Anhui province. It's well known for the Dabie Mountains, and has a rich history with the Song Dynasty.

87. Mashhad, Iran(3,312,000).

The city is known as religious pilgrimage of Iran. It's very well known for the Holy Shrine of Iman Reza, and is has several ancient tombs of historic religious leaders of Iran.

86. Kano, Nigeria(3,333,000).

The city is the capital of the state of Kano(believe it, or not). It's the second-largest city in Nigeria, and is best known for the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

85. Algiers, Algeria(3,336,000).

The city is the capital of Algeria. It's best known for the Great Masque, its rich ancient history, and has bold whitewashed buildings, making it a uniquely pretty city.

84. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia(3,385,000).

The city is the capital of Ethiopia. It's best known for it's National Museum, and has a unique burial place for their former 20th Century Emperor known as Haile Selassie.

83. Hyderabad, Pakistan(3,429,000).

The city is located in the Sindh province. It is the former capital of Pakistan, and is well known for the infamous Kalhora Dynasty which once ruled it.

82. Hanoi, Vietnam(3,435,000).

The city is the capital of Vietnam. The city is well-known for its bold architecture, the Old Quarter, several ancient temples.

81. Guayaquil, Ecuador(3,500,000).

The city is known as being the gateway to the famous Galapagos Islands. It's also the home to the La Rotunda monument, and the Santa Ana Hill.

80. Busan, South Korea(3,526,000).

The city is well known for the Busy Haeundae Beach, and its various ancient temples. Interestingly enough, tug-o-war games are common here, and beach parties are all the buzz.

79. Wuxi, China(3,542,000).

The city is well-known as being the home of the famous Taihu Lake, and beautiful Taihu walking trails which surround it. Due to its various parks, it's the park hub of China.

78. Urumqi, China(3,550,000).

The city is the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is best known for the ancient Silk Road during China's Tang Dynasty, and according to Guinness World Records, it is the most remote city in the world from any sea.

77. Giza, Egypt(3,628,000).

The city is well known for The Great Pyramid, and its various other pyramids. It's also known for its ancient Sphinxes, and is one of the biggest tourist destinations in all of Africa.

76. Berlin, Germany(3,671,000).

The city is the capital of Germany. It has a famous Holocaust Memorial, and was well known for the Berlin Wall. It also has a big art culture, and is the biggest tourist destination in Germany.

75. Kabul, Afghanistan(3,678,000).

The city is the capital of Afghanistan. It is one of the highest capitals in the world via land elevation, and is well known for its Hindu Kush Mountains.

74. Yokohama, Japan(3,733,000).

The city is the second-largest city in Japan, and ironically, has a large Chinatown neighborhood in it. It is well known for the Sankei-en Garden, and is one of the first ports open for foreign trade in Japan.

73. Changchun, China(3,815,000).

The city is the capital of the Jilin province. It is best known for the Puppet Manchurian Palace Museum, and the Film Century City Theme Park as well. It's an entertainment hub.

72. Kunming, China(3,891,000).

The city is the capital of the Yunnan province. It is well known for the Cui Hu park, and has a very large population of college students.

71. Los Angeles, United Stated of America(3,976,000).

The city is the largest city in the state of California(but not the capital city). It is best known for the film industry in the USA, the Hollywood Boulevard of Broken Dreams, its beaches, mountains, and Beverly Hills. LA has a little bit of everything for everyone!

70. Amman, Jordan(4,008,000).

The city is the capital of Jordan. It has several ancient ruins, which includes the pillars to the famous temple of Hercules. It's also home of the Rome Theater.

69. Alexandria, Egypt(4,028,000).

The city is the second-largest city in Egypt, and is home of one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the famous lighthouse ranking. It's also home of the Quaitbay Citadel. Alexandria-you are 69!

68. Nanning, China(4,037,000).

The city is the capital of the Guangxi province. It's well known for the People's Lake, the White Dragon Lake, and the Guangxi Museum. It's a true tourist destination.

67. Faisalabad, Pakistan(4,075,000).

The city is the second-largest city in the Punjab province. It is jokingly called the "Manchester of Pakistan", due its vast city life, and is also home to the University of Agriculture.

66. Jeddah, Saudi Arabia(4,276,000).

The city is a port city on the Red Sea, and is a major gateway to the holy cities of Mecca, and Medina. It's also iconic for its former ruler, King Fah'd.

65. Shiziahuang, China(4,303,000).

The city is the capital of the Hebei province. The city is very close to the Taihang Mountains, and is known for its hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities.

64. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania(4,364,000).

The city is a major port city on the Indian Ocean, and is well-known for the open-air Village Museum. Louis Leakey, one of the founders, is an iconic figure in the city, and is part of the museum as well.

63. Abidjan, Ivory Coast(4,396,000).

The city is the major urban center of the Ivory Coast, and its most famous landmark is the La Pyramide building. It's also known for St. Paul's Cathedral as well.

62. Surat, India(4,467,000).

The city is located in the state of Gujarat. It's near the Tapi River, and is well known for the New Textile Market.

61. Fuzhou, China(4,468,000).

The city is the capital of the Fujian province. It's well known for the Yushan Scenic Area, and the 10th Century White Pagoda.

60. Kolkata, India(4,497,000).

The city is the capital of the state of West Bengal. It is a former capital of India, and is home to Mother House, the headquarters for the Missionaries of Charity.

59. Changsha, China(4,597,000).

The city is the capital of the Hunan province. It is best known for being the home of the ancient Zhou Dynasty, is the home of several ancient Han Dynasty tombs.

58. Melbourne, Australia(4,641,000).

The city is the capital of the state of Victoria. It's known for the Federation Square attraction, and is very famous for its performing arts culture.

57. Jinan, China(4,694,000).

The city is the capital of the Shandong province. It's best known for the Baotu Spring, and also has the vast Daming Lake, and the famous Shandong Museum.

56. Sydney, Australia(5,005,000).

The city is the capital of the state of New South Wales(and one of Australia's capitals). The city is easily the biggest tourist destination in Australia, as it is known for the Sydney Opera House, its beautiful beaches, botanical gardens, wildlife, hiking trails, is is consistently ranked one of the best cities in the world to live.

55. Casablanca, Morocco(5,118,000).

The city is the largest city in Morocco, and is a major port city from the Atlantic Ocean. It's a city known for its French colonial legacy, and has the famous Hassan II statue standing in the city.

54. Yangon, Myanmar(5,160,000).

The city is the largest city of Myanmar(Burma). It's most well-known attraction is the famous Shwedagon Paya complex, and has a slew of religious sites.

53. Khartoum, Sudan(5,185,000).

The city is the capital of the state of Khartoum, and the largest city of Sudan. It's not known for much at all, but it is known for the White Nile River.

52. Ankara, Turkey(5,271,000).

The city is the capital of Turkey. The city is well known for its performing arts culture, including the State Home of Ballet, the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, and several national theater companies.

51. Harbin, China(5,282,000).

The city is the capital of the Heilongjiang province. It's the starting point of the Trans-Siberian Railroad, and the home of the Saint Sophia Cathedral, as well as the Sun Island Park.

50. Saint Petersburg, Russia(5,323,000).

The city is a major port city on the Baltic Sea. The city was founded by the infamous Peter the Great, and is the main multicultural hub of Russia.

49. Suzhou, China(5,468,000).

The city is located in the Jiangsu province. The city is the home of the Humble Administrator's Garden, and the famous leaning Clock Rock Pagoda.

48. Ahmadabad, India(5,577,000).

The city is the largest city in the state of Gujarat. It's best known for the Sabamarti River, and is also home of the Calico Home of Textiles.

47. Singapore, Singapore(in Malaysia)(5,607,000).

The city is unique, as its a city in Malaysia, but is also its own country. The main hub is the Padang cricket field, and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is said to hold Buddha's teeth.

46. Dalian, China(5,900,000).

The city is located in the Liaoning province. It's known for being the port city on the Liaoning Peninsula, and its main attraction is the Zhongshan Square.

45. Santiago, Chile(6,158,000).

The city is the capital of Chile. The city is known for the Chilean Coast Range, and snow-capped mountains, as well as the Palacio de la Real Audiencia.

44. Qingdao, China(6,188,000).

The city is located in the Shandong province. It's actually best known for its legendary beer, and is home of The Tsingtao Beer Museum.

43. Shenyang, China(6,255,000).

The city is the capital of the Liaoning province. It was the site of the 17th-century Manchu capital Mukden, and the imposing Mukden Palace (Shenyang Imperial Palace) is a blend of Manchurian and Tibetan architectural styles.

42. Zhengzou, China(6,406,000).

The city is the capital of the Henan province. It's well known for the ancient Shang Dynasty, and is the home of the pyramid-shaped Henan Museum.

41. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil(6,454,000).

The city is the second-most populated city in Brazil. It's known as being the only South American city to host a World Olympics(the 2016 Summer Olympics), and is famous for its massive Christ the Redeemer statue.

40. Hyderabad, India(6,809,000).

The city is the capital of the state of Telangana. It's a major hub for the technology industry, and is one of the most upscale, and fancy cities in all of India.

39. Hangzhou, China(7,082,000).

The city is the capital of the Zhejiang province. It's well-known as being the pathway of the Grand Canal waterway, and the Leifeng Pagoda.

The city is the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu. The city is the home of Fort Saint George, and several ancient religious sites.

37. Hong Kong, Hong Kong(in China)(7,234,000).

The city is unique, as it's also its own country, but still in China. It's very well known for its British influence, as it used to belong to the United Kingdom, and is the biggest tourist city in China.
