How many times have you gone camping? Did you enjoy it?

I've gone loads when I was younger, and not had the chance to go that much lately. I've organised a few trips but they usually fall through due to friends being lazy. It's great. If you can survive the lack of certain things, the things you gain are immense. For example, waking up around dawn and riding a bike along a rock path on the beach at sunrise... so calm, quiet and fresh

I used to go with my dad and my Girl Scout troop a lot and it was mostly fun but I’m allergic to woodsmoke, and pollen, and trees, and the sun...

I was very involved with our churches boy scouts program and our leader was actually as old as I am now. I was in 8th grade at the time and he used to work Monday through Friday and always had the weekends off so we would go camping twice a month with him and two of his friend's. He was a great leader and we always went somewhere different as well as did different activities such as rafting, fishing, mountain hiking, carving, merit badges and much more. Something I didn't realize until now is that sometimes he did bring girls that were his "friends". Not like our noisy asses ever heard anything but i'm sure something was going on once we fell asleep. He was pretty responsible otherwise and it was always a blast. It was one of the few things I ever enjoyed outside of my house. Before he was relieved as our scout master he ensured we knew how to survive in the wild down to a tee. One night he did a "controlled survival Camp" as he called it. He had us all go out on our own not too far from the main camp with nothing other then a knife and our current clothes. We had to survive the semi cold night and have a makeshift shelter he would grade in the morning. It was very fun to say the least and I learned a lot.

We used to in big enough groups in the summer and winter up to the forest or lake or abandoned old mansion and party. Of course the local authorities and clubs didn't like that and used to shut us down so we had to move the party all around. Apparently fun needs to be regulated and monitored and paid for.
