I was in a small port town it didn't have many schools and I walked to school cox you either needed your own vehicle which my family could not afford back then or use public transport which was not present
Now I live in a mega city
I like all areas once in a while I take a trip to a remote location where I don't have to come across many human faces
I prefer the middle ground as I currently live. Out on the countryside so that I have nature and calm around me, but close by to the cities so that I don't feel isolated and can choose to get into the hustle and bustle when I want to.

I have come to prefer the country, near nice towns with cities not too far away.
I grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles, not far from the ocean. Back then, there were dairies, farms and orchards all around. It felt like a combination of city and country. Big city attractions were nearby. New theme parks like Knott's Berry Farm, Disneyland, Santa's Village sprouted up in the 50s. Universal Studios opened in the mid-60s. So all of that stuff was fresh when I was a kid in the 60s. Everything was geared toward family fun. There were also world class museums, zoos, aquariums, arboretums, botanical gardens and other things for families.
In my early teens, my sister and I liked to go to Hollywood Blvd to see real live hippies and browse for posters, incense, incense holders, peace sign medallion on chains and stuff like that in head shops.
There are lots of entertainment venues in cities. I went to all of them to see music when I was in my late teens and twenties. I also started discovering ethnic food and loved the variety of wonderful restaurants. Every variety of goods and services were also available.
So those things, for me, are the advantages of cities. There is lots to see and do.
What I don't like is noise, traffic, neon, crass commercialism, dance clubs, crowds, and poverty stricken neighborhoods.
I actually enjoyed living in the L. A. area. Among all the other things, there were mountains, deserts and amazing beaches within easy driving distance.
In 2000, my wife and I moved to northern California and sort of accidentally wound up in a rural area. 25 minutes in one direction are two very dynamic adjoining towns in the mountains. They are historic with cute architecture, but there is an amazing amount of culture, from live theater and music to events like World Fest, the Celtic Festival and the County Fair a the fairgrounds. Even famous bands come to the town. There are some really good places to eat, too, although lacking the variety of a big city. My wife works there and we both got very involved in activities. I got more involved in things and made more friends in those towns than I did in all my life in the city.
25 minutes in the other direction, there is a small city that lacks in culture but has lots of big box stores, restaurant chains, fast food and a mall.
We are about an hour away from Sacramento and other sprawling, adjoining cities. Lake Tahoe and Reno are 2-3 hours away in one direction, and Napa-Sonoma and San Francisco are about the same distance in the opposite direction.
But I have to say that I LOVE my home in the country, surrounded by farms, ranches, horse property, wild areas, rivers, lakes and creeks. I like having deer, wild turkeys, quail and lots of birds visit our property. We see foxes, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, jackrabbits, and even bobcats. I love the bees, butterflies, snakes, frogs, lizards and other critters. Nature fills me with peace, awe and gratitude.
When I travel, I might go to big cities and tourist destinations to see art, architecture, and places of historical significance. But I am more drawn to ancient towns and traditional ways of life when I travel to other countries. And I really enjoy New England and other parts of the U. S.
I prefer anything but the inner city areas as they tend to be higher in crime and well, overall misery according to polls. Humans need room to breath and quiet time and well, not smelling exhaust 24/7. I would like to visit a city, sure. But not stay and certainly not with so much poverty, crime, and unrest going on right now. A see a lot of potential for good in city life but not as things currently are. No amount of multicultural cuisine and fun shopping experiences are worth that type of hassle.
I live in a small city located in Southwestern Pennsylvania called Monongahela Pa USA
the population is like a little over 3000 but there are other small cities that are connected to ours such as Finleyville, Donora, Monessen, Charleroi, etc like
where I live we have downtown McDonald's, KeyBank, PNC Bank,
we have women barbers, We have Angelos Restuarant, Small stores
we have Rite-Aid Pharmacy & Store but the prices are outrageous
there is Dierken's Pharmacy which is one I use also there is Span & Taylor
pharmacy, We have Eat n Park, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Foodland
I agree with you. I'm city too. Although I don't like concrete much and need a lot of greenery around me too. I'm big into trees. But I want all the things that cities provide.

If I'm on a vacation I like cities and I like towns otherwise I like to Country I love being outdoors and I can always find something to do.
But on vacation or something or traveling I love to stop at thrift stores and things like that I tried to find something unique and different
And no matter where I go or what I do I'm always looking at people I'm always looking into their eyes or there smile

If you know me then you sent me a text before you ever showed up. My kid's friend's parents know this.
My kids friend's parents also know that when their kids stay over that their kids are probably safer here than in their own home.
I like the city more, even though I realize the people may be worse. It's mostly about convenience and cheaper cost of living.

Yeah I am a city person if I live in a small town or out in the country it be very boring and I probably had sex with every girl in town already lol.
Smaller towns, cities have their place as a cultural hub, but towns. Mostly towns are more friendly if you live somewhere lomg enough the people become like family.
City, though i don't imagine liking big cites like the whole new york not countryside.

I live in a city but I wished I lived in a town, I like knowing everyone and I would be more suitable in a town. As long as there's a beach nearby I would be blessed. If I had wealth i would live in a town.
Even though I live in a city , grew up in countryside , then town. If it wasn't for my daughter , I would be out of here and somewhere far more secluded in a flash. Not fond of people , most are self centered / absorbed.
A town person. Slower pace, people are kinder, less noise and it's easier to find a large place with a garden.
I/We wanna move away from the suburbs of the metropolis to a quaint li'l town up in the mountains or by the ocean.

I'm not even a town person. Town has too many people.
I say this since my home town of Springfield, MO is an intermediate metro area and more of everything is there.
Small town. Cities have their perks for sure, but I hate people. Give me a few good friends and 1 decent place to eat and I’m a happy camper
I grew up in a small farm ranching town them moved out to the city. I'm so tired of the city, so I bought property out in the middle of nowhere so that I can have a place to getaway
