I'd like to see Russia but if I could only pick one.
The reason, I have German friends, I love the culture and I speak the language.
Ich würde gerne nach Deutschland reisen weil ich Deutsch kann und es würde mir gefallen mit echten Deutschen mein Deutsch zu üben.00 Reply

@Kaneki05 no it’s just you hate being wrong.
Germany east was part of the Eastern block of countries, it was never part of Russia which is a geographical area, whose capital is Moscow, if I remember correctly it was not even part of the USSR.

I wouldn't mind visiting Russia on a day trip, but I wouldn't pay thousands of dollars to spent a week or two there.10 Reply- 1.1K opinions shared on Travel topic.

@Alexandrubaschet08 they’ve got a palace museum with over two million artifacts, a beautiful subway that looks like a painted church, beautiful churches and armouries with stained glass windows and extravagant palace clothing with gold interwoven into the silk colours, gemstone crowns, humongous palace sized gardens with stairs and painted stone pillars and manicured lawns with glorious water fountains and queen palaces more beautiful than modern colours.

That palat is decorated whit my nation gold that Russia supose to give it back even today.
That gold is the paimend of milions of pesents that fight for theyr freedome in many war and in the end they come to pai theyr opresors/the ocupants/the invadators.
That subway is decorated whit may criminals and traitors face like Lenin, Stalin, Communist signs, Tzar Alexander the 1, Kutuzov, Tzar Alexander the 3, Tzar Nicolas the seconds, Ivan the terible.
People who spet the blood of other nation for theyr nation.
All thous artistic infrastuctures and arts, are made by the suffer of millions of other nations, in the Tzar time and Communist time.
+1 yWell, I would say Russia, however beyond the Western part of the country there isn't much to see. I mean you got Lake Baikal but that's pretty much about it. So I give my vote to Germany, but just barely.

To make it clear for even the biggest brain surgeon on here: Germany and Russia *never* used to be similar, are *not* similar and *never* will be similar. You're welcome.

@Kaneki05 Sorry for the late reply.
That would still make not much sense, since the GDR represented not even 30% of Germany and was a mixture of small business owners and central planning publicly owned enterprises (which made the GDR the most successful country in the Eastern Bloc). The Soviet Union was a stone-cold communist country, politicized and repressive into the furthest corner.
In fact the differences were so drastic, that Germany had to build the Soviet occupying forces new housing in Russia to shuffle them safely out of the country!
Asker+1 yI meant during imperial times.
Germany and Russia are not similar. I had 3 holidays in Germany, Munchen, Mainz and Berlin. I prefer to go to Russia. Russians are generally more open than Germans, it is easier to talk to them, especially if you are Italian as in my case.

@Alexandrubaschet08 it's a trip dude... Not stay forever. Nothing wrong with travel to see other places. You learn to appreciate your home more if you see a worse place
- +1 y
@Alexandrubaschet08 also a trip to Germany is super of pointless if you're already there
- +1 y
i visit 2 time Germany, i love it, but going more far in to the East then Rep. Moldova, Poland, Baltic States and Finland is the hell, nobady can promes you are safe ther.
- +1 y
@Alexandrubaschet08 well i'm not rich so nobody will be interested in harming me.
- +1 y
German in Russia, that not a good combination.
They still have bad feelings for the western people from Napoleon 1812 thill now.
If you are not a Belarusian a Serb or at las a Pro-Russian Slav they will not be interested in you.
As a german they will look very down on you. - +1 y
@Alexandrubaschet08 my grandparents are 50% russian descends. so i have slavic genes. i don't plan to live in russiabut i think a trip is worth it. germany is just expensive and boring to travel.
- +1 y
Expensive? Boring?
The fact Germany whas once time a chaotic structure "Holly Roman Empire" is more divers, more cultural, the industrial revolution whas a complet succes in Germany the rise before WW1 and the fall afther it and again the raise before WW2 and again fall afther AND AGAIN RISE FROM THE ASH is the moust fascinating and interesting thing in a nation, how Germany whas never truly defeted and never become a poor nation whit povertys like the East.
Russia whas alwase expansionist, alwase searching for war and develop country in order to exlot them and thous country to make them rich, because self administration is to dificul for them because they are to lazy and stupid and to many people of that nation are adicted for alchool.
Only aristocratic circles have made the culture that Russia has today, but not people.
You will be completely disappointed, the East is always more expensive for the locals than the West is for their own people and this is another reason why both the Eastern Bloc and the Eastern Countries are looking down on you.
You will only see the riches of the dead and the poverty of people living in miserable conditions. - +1 y
@Alexandrubaschet08 dude the country that you live in yourself is more boring to you than it is to people that don't live there xD that is normal.
- +1 y
plus: it is expensive! like you pay for a spot on a camping ground here what you pay for a 4star hotel room elsewhere...
- +1 y
My country is big, it take lot of time and money to travel around it, is very dificul for us to see it so we can't be bored of it because we don't have this lux like in the West to travel.
Champin, pay, we do that for free in nature, some people make theyr own improvization of greel in order to cook.
4 stars hotels? Don't expect to finde many local people ther.
I have a very nice looking SPA in my country from Germany and i whas able to go ther only whit UK money in a hollyday when i wanted to visit my family and ther whas 80% people out of my country.
Who whas shok they didn't meet local people to tell them what to do.
Museums? Thous you visit them only whit school programs or on some special days when they are open for free, if they are.
Your country is way more richer.
Just ask people from ex East Germany to tell you how whas thous time, and remember RDG whas the moust rich from the East Blok, even richer then USSR.
Wher you will want to go you will meet people who make saciface to go ther and where actualy people are you will hate it.

Asker+1 yYou think it’s better than St. Petersburg.
- +1 y
I don't know if better but I've always had an interest in Berlin cause it looks very modern or that is my impression
- +1 y
Quite frankly, Berlin is the least-nice city in Germany. Largest percentage of unemployed, open drug scene, petty crimes and many areas where you can get the equivalent of a "Glasgow kiss". Berliners also seem to have been born generally without an indoor voice. I feel the foreigners' fascination with Berlin is simply connected to the clubbing scene.
- +1 y
@DryGermanGuy Totally agree, Berlin is overrated and people just assume it's the best due to it being overrated and most talked about. I lived in Heidelberg which was a billion times nicer than Berlin.
