For big airports, Dallas-Fort Worth is easily the best designed, especially compared to its comparably sized peers in Atlanta and Chicago. Dallas Love Field however, is a dump even though it has improved a bit over the years.

Most small airports are basically the same, straightforward layout with no special features or quirks.

Overseas, the stark difference between London's Heathrow (garbage) and Gatwick (good) airports is pretty incredible. Frankfurt is pretty good too, but I didn't care for Venice or Kuwait City.

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is the one that I am most used to and thus able to quickly get around in. The entire site is designed to move massive numbers of people quickly and accurately in and out of the airport. It did lose the top spot as the world's busiest airport… mainly due travel restriction in 2020… but it is more than ready to continue doing what it was designed for.

The following are the top ten busiest airports in the world… London and Chicago did not even make the list.

1. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport: Guangzhou, China

Number of passengers: 43,767,558

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) was the busiest airport in the world in 2020, with over 40 million passengers, down from over 73 million passengers in 2019.

2. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport: Atlanta, Georgia

Number of passengers: 42,918,685

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), previously the world's busiest airport in 2019 with over 110 million passengers, came in second in 2020. This airport saw 61.2% fewer passengers in 2020, at nearly 43 million.

3. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport: Chengdu, China

Number of passengers: 40,741,509

Down 27.1% year-over-year, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU), was the third-busiest airport in the world in 2020.

4. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport: Grapevine, Texas

Number of passengers: 39,364,990

The United States' second-busiest airport last year, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) moved up from the 10th-busiest airport in the world in 2019 to the fourth-busiest in 2020.

5. Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport: Shenzhen, China

Number of passengers: 37,916,054

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) was the world's 26th-busiest airport for overall passenger traffic in 2019, but in 2020, it came in fifth, with nearly 38 million people traveling through.

6. Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport: Chongqing, China

Number of passengers: 34,937,789

Another Chinese airport saw a major jump in ranking as other hubs around the world saw fewer passengers amid the pandemic. Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) was 48th in 2019 and sixth in 2020 for overall passenger traffic.

7. Beijing Capital International Airport: Beijing, China

Number of passengers: 34,513,827

Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) was the second-busiest airport in 2019, but its passenger traffic fell a dramatic 65.5% in 2020, causing it to come in seventh this year.

8. Denver International Airport: Denver, Colorado

Number of passengers: 33,741,129

Denver International Airport (DEN) was among the United States' busiest airports in 2020. But it could be more than a major hub — there are some pretty wild conspiracy theories about the airport involving the Illuminati, underground bunkers, and more.

9. Kunming Changshui International Airport: Kunming, China

Number of passengers: 32,990,805

Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG) went from the 37th-busiest airport in the world in 2019 to the ninth-busiest in 2020, with a 31.4% decrease in passengers.

10. Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport: Shanghai, China

Number of passengers: 31,165,641

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) was the 10th-busiest airport in 2020, with over 30 million passengers, down 31.7% from 2019, when the hub saw over 45 million travelers passing through.

With the USA only having three airports in the top ten and the rest being all in China... That does give me a bit of a pause when thinking about it.

I haven't seen too many.
I found Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok to be quite impressive from the layout and appearance; Langkawi (Malaysia), because it's charmingly small and ''open'';
Singapore has a very interesting smell in the air (boring, otherwise).
From those I 'know' from description only, I'd love to experience:
- Lukla, Nepal
- Milford Sound, New Zealand

LAX is my favorite. I love all of the shuttles to and from the airport and the massive Uber/Lyft station they have that’s similar to a bus station.

I like ours MSP, decent food, easy to navigate, and some people like shopping there. Can get a direct flight all over the US, or to Amsterdam, Paris. Plus it’s nowhere near as busy as ORD, LAX, and some of the others.

I haven't really flown much in my life, not a big flyer but I found the one at Hawaii was pretty cool. I've flown maybe 10 times in my entire life, well 5 but when you include round trip 10 times.

Domestically - I think ATL, DTW and DFW are amazingly well designed as airline hubs.

Internationally, as design goes, I think the new terminal at Shenzhen (SZX) is amazing, though, the distances you need to walk are often pretty long.

As small city airports go, my home airport Raleigh-Durham (RDU) is a really nice mid-sized city airport. Efficient security, nice terminal, plenty of reasonably priced food places and lots of flights to places I go.

Dallas-Fort Worth Airport is by far the best I've seen - it's like I saw it and I'm like "yea there are levels to this" - I went there from Beirut Hariri Airport - We had stops in Istanbul Airport and Frankfurt Airport - Before that I had already been in the airport of Florence - Nothing too special but I liked it

I haven't been in all that many airports, all of them in the US. It's also been a long time since I flew. The airport doesn't make much difference to me. I don't recall one standing out from the others. The only thing that matters is how close is the next gate, and how far is the toilet.

Seoul-Incheon was really cool. They have free layover tours, and they have cultural shows and exhibits inside the airport, so you can experience Korean culture without having to leave the airport

Gen. Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee is pretty cool. Atlanta is enormous. Orlando was pretty neat. Chicago's O'Hare is awful though.

I've heard Tokyo Int'l is pretty wild. But I've never been there. Kansai int'l has a Nintendo and Pokemon store in it. That's pretty cool.

I used to like the St. Louis International Airport. Not because of the terminal and such, but because there used to be a small parking area off the end of the main set of runways (outside the fence, of course). Used to sit there and watch the aircraft takeoff or land (depending on the wind) directly overhead.
