My being trapped in Tirana during the Albanian Civil War in March 1997, where I saw a nation state disintegrate before my eyes. President Bill Clinton authorized Operation Silver Wake to evacuate American citizens from Tirana, but no one told me (I guess it was because I didn't vote for Clinton).

I had to make my own way out of Albania, entering Macedonia illegally (the border check point on the Albanian side had been burned to the ground by rioters). I eventually made my way back into Bulgaria, and the safety of friends and "family".

I'm sure that things have changed in the last 25 years, but you'll never see me in Albania again.

Yeah albania must went to the semi final. It was truly deserved but i think that eurovision made a choice based on racism terms

Albania was one of my favourites this year and I was sure it would go through because the song is amazing. I heard that they made Ronela change her performance because it was ''too explicit''. Eurovision is all about politics sadly.
