When traveling, do you normally stop by a motel or hotel for a night stay?

So it really depends on the type of travel, so if I am just driving across county and want a place to sleep for the night then I stay at a cheap motel... pull in, shit shower, sleep and shave then move on. But if I am at a a destination and I want to stay and relax for a few days then its all about a nice hotel for me.

I like to use a night train with sleeper option.
When I still travelled by car, I also preferred less traffic at night. Sleep-time was then caught up with in the shadows of a nice beach during the morning hours.

It depends on what is affordable and clean, if we are in Europe, we choose affordability and if we are in Cuba or Mexico, we choose luxury and safety.

I prefer to avoid the hotel unless its an overnight drive.

I stay in Hilton's or Holiday inn's I don't do motels, especially in Cali to many 5150s hang around outside and they serve dirty towels so no I rather a pay a few extra 100 dollars for a night for a clean night's rest then dirty and filthy 5160d hanging around and doing dirty shit.

Hotel every time

here a motel would be a Bed & Breakfast or a really cheap hotel chain.

i prefer knowing the standards are fairly repeatable and go for hotels.
