I wonder why it’s so expensive. It’s not like it’s Paris or London. Right now I’m virtually exploring 9th century Norway and it’s so fun. Glad I didn’t live there at that time.

It's a high tax place, and that tax goes to upping the costs of goods and services as well. On the upside, they DO appear to get their money's worth relative to many other high tax places I can think of, so there is that.
