Yes, but no different than swimming in a pool. What makes swimming good for knees or any sort of joints is that it is a very low impact activity. Actually, I’d venture a guess it may be considered the lowest.

It is also good because it works so many muscles instead of targeting a certain area. Just walking around in a pool is good exercise considering the resistance of the water alone.

This is why so many physio places use pools to help rehab injuries. The gravity in water and the fact you are forced to move slower is what works so well from coming back from an injury.

I love to swim, whether it be the ocean or a pool. Great exercise and again, very low impact.

The tide getting in and out might be a bit worrying if you have injuries or weakness, as it can be very strong. In that case a pool might be better. But otherwise, yes. They have a number of animal rehab clinics in my area that encourage such for pet recovery too.

Yeah but a pool may be better depending on knee issue, as there is no lateral movement on the knee joint, whereas in the sea it’s movement all around it.

best bet is to see a physio as they will need to examine the knee and maybe ultra sound etc, they can then advise best physio for it.

The above assumes you do have a knee problem.

if just general, core balance is good for the knee, standing on one leg arms crossed, eyes closed, and hold for 1 minute.

Swimming in the sea is good for a lot of things & as for me I swim in the sea a lot. I love my beach days. I pack a cooler, chairs are already in my vehicle, I throw on my bathing suit & sunscreen as well. This beach is my happy place.

Yes. Even walking in the water is great for body. Arthritis folks get most of their exercise in and through water.

If the knees are basically functional, it's at least not BAD.

I'd certainly check it twice... just in case that sharks are around.
