Depends on the country. I suggest you do astronomical research before thinking of traveling to any country that isn’t western friendly. Especially as a woman. Don’t be stupid and think American laws and rights apply to those countries. No you are not safe going out at night. The police are not your friends. Yes you will get scammed. Your hotel is not safe for keeping your luggage. As a woman you better be careful of the laws of certain countries. I suggest just stay away from the Middle East. Don’t bring a lot of expensive stuff with you. Pretend you may be robbed. Even in safe countries. That’s from my experience even traveling with company. Your whole trip can go fine then one thing can ruin the whole experience. Like not following different traffic laws, getting pulled over and the cops extorting money from you.

I've traveled alone for work many, many times. I've been to most US states.

I don't know that I'd travel for a vacation alone - it's possible, but not preferable - but that's not out of any fear of traveling alone, it just wouldn't be nearly as fun, and thus probably not worth the expense.

Yep, and have dona a couple pretty major trips alone. Traveling with is rewarding and fun in it's own ways, you have memories to share. You are often surprised by how much you enjoy things you wouldn't have chosen to do yourself.
Alone though, you really do need to be a little more security conscious, but you get to do things exactly as you would like... Both are awesome
