Been there many times as I used to live nearby, and I certainly prefer it to the other similar cities in the region (Geneva, Montreux, etc). Obviously the lake and mountains are beautiful, but the picturesque medieval old town is actually only very small - most of the city is fairly modern and unremarkable. It was pretty busy with tourists too, as you might imagine.

Not personally, but some friends of mine went there, they really enjoyed it. It is nicknamed the "little French Venice".

Well, France has really beautiful places, varied, with for each region of culinary and cultural specificities.

But there are plenty of other countries where there are plenty of things that must be great to see.

I'm sure the US has some great places to see.

True the US has a lot to see but I think the culture overall is bland compared to Europe.

Well, it depends on what we're talking about when we talk about culture. Europe has centuries of history behind it, which has allowed it to have an impressive cultural wealth.

The United States is a young nation so it is normal that it could not have such a cultural wealth.

However, you will notice that the US actually has another type of culture, I would call it a "Show" culture, which is linked to your great pop artists, your great actors, your TV shows and even your great companies, which makes its way of life the most attractive in the world.

I guess American culture is present all over the world in terms of movies and fast food restaurants.

I guess by culture I mean the food you can eat and the architecture you see around you.

Yeah, after I fell in love with Ax-les-Thermes and was looking into visiting France for a proper vacation, Annecy was one of the cities I was look at

It looks nice but I've been to Paris, Marseilles, Lyon, and Nice so I've had my fill of France. I'd like to visit Portugal maybe but otherwise just Asia.
