There are to many major problems to create a self sustaining civilization on mars. The soil is toxic the atmosphere is too thin and toxic. The solar winds will keep stripping the atmosphere if it's thickened due to no magnetic field to protect it and us from radiation too. you will need to liquefy the core and spin it around to create a magnetic field which I for one have no Idea how to do on such a massive scale. But I think we need a new frontier to explore because it's part of human nature to set and achieve goals like that. It's who we are.

I’m sure there will be cars and bars on mars. Maybe we humans will pollute mars so much over the next hundreds of thousands of years until the point we’ll have to find another planet to live in. When we finally move to mars, we will bring our best doctors, engineers, teachers etc to ensure the continuity and advancement of our species. Cars will most likely be a significant part of our Mars colony, much like how we have cars on the road. It will be almost impossible to maintain our current lifestyle and level of connectivity on Mars without some form of transport.

The average temperature on Mars is about minus 80 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 60 degrees Celsius), although it can vary from minus 195 F (minus 125 C) near the poles during the winter to as much as a comfortable 70 F (20 C) at midday near the equator. With that said I do not see how we would survive too long.
