Iāll try and help you. Canada is the second largest country by landmass in the world so most are not going to know the ins and outs of this region. Iām from Toronto - I donāt head out that way often although itās only about 30-45 minutes from me.
Oakville is kind of an interesting place to come together for a family reunion, unless one of you lives there. It is a typical suburban community thatās extremely car-dependant with piss poor public transit and tracts upon tracts of houses that all look the same. Itās pretty boring unless you go spend time down along the lake shore. I would recommend leaving Oakville and going to Niagara Falls, itās nice. Extremely busy, but itās fun. I havenāt been there in about 3 years, since before Covid. Iām guessing since youāre going there, you have access to a car since thatās about a 1.5 hours drive. If you like small town charm, you can check out Niagara-on-the-Lake. Itās wine country around there as well, if you drink wine I recommend checking out some local wineries around Niagara.
You can also take the Go train into Toronto, and see sights there, and be able to eat at better restaurants. Do not drive. I honestly canāt give many recommendations on restaurants because I donāt know what you like to eat. This is a very multicultural city with numerous restaurants featuring cuisines from different countries. I would recommend checking out the Distillery District, St. Lawrence Market, there are a few good museums here if youāre into that, and there are some walking tours in different parts of the city. There is of course the CN Tower and the surrounding tourist attractions, whether or not you want to spend that kind of money is up to you.
This is great! Yes, i have relatives that lives there. We will be having a car/s and we have enough drivers. The St. Lawrence Market looks amazing, am adding it to the list. Niagara-on-the-Lake too. The thing is we will be a total of 23 people (1 elder, 5 kids oldest is 7 years old) so parks are in planned. We have planned 2 big days, Niagara falls and CWL. Restaurants! I have a group that wants some real good BBQ joint where the meat falls of the bone! Do you have any recommendations on that? Wineries sounds amazing, and i am a big fan of Ripasso wines š. Museums! We are a big group, we have to think about that, i love museums so it's a yes for me but stll. Have to check on that one. This is very helpful, thank you š
I didnāt realize you were such a big group, wow! You may want to check out Bronte Creek Provincial Park in Oakville. Itās a nice public park, barbecue facilities, hiking, and it has a big outdoor swimming pool.
Because youāre such a big group, itās going to be hard for you to get into restaurants. You may have to split in half and go to different places. If you want to go as a whole group, contact some restaurants ahead of time to see if they can accommodate you - but keep in mind that since an entire section will have to be reserved, it may not be possible. Itās Pride weekend, there are other events going on, and itās the first full weekend of summer.
If you do go to a sit down restaurant, keep in mind that tipping is expected here, usually 20% on the total for great service. You are not obligated to leave a tip, but thatās considered extremely rude. If 8 or more of you visit a restaurant, you will be forced to pay an automatic 18% tip on the bill.
Iām sorry, I donāt have any recommendations for BBQ places at the moment - itās not something I eat often. I would check Yelp to see what other people think and make a list of places to go to.
I have been to the states and i expect the same 7n Canada when it comes to tipping, so NOTED.
Don't listen to these people... Oakville is made for hookers and cocaine. ... and a bottle of whisky.
You won't be living life until you sniffed a white line of powder off her brown butthole. Her name isn't Tina, but you'll name her Tina anyways.
I am more into weed and tequila, some bitches would be nice too. Glory holes? Mack and squeeze? I will call my bitch for GLORIA š
Heh, first time Iāve ever heard that but you could be onto something. Oakville is one of the more affluent communities here š
@musicbrain5 then i am not gonna explain any š. Weed, tequila and poutine and family reunion
There are plenty of vineyards, Amhurstburg, and Point Peelee National Park close by.
Point Pelee and Amhurstburg are about 4 hours by car from where he will be. Just thought Iād mention it. Ontario is a big province.
