Have you noticed the first day in a new city is always exciting?

I just got invited to join the barbecue with the real estate agent who helped me rent apt.

I also got invited to have a party with my French friend, who I knew online, he occasionally wanted to visit my city, but I was too busy to meet, he now wants to introduce me to the expats in Shanghai.

So far, the new day is great. I am really tired, but figured it’s important to make some friends so next time I won’t feel lonely.

The first week really... even in that long a time I'll still stumble on some new little hidden treasure every time I go for a walk from my new address. I'll take pictures of them so I can find my way back since I'm not familiar with anything, even if they are just right around the corner. Nearly 10 years at this address and I'm still finding new pictures I took :)

I have lived in the same place for more than 30 years. I have not been anyplace new since 9/11 happened.
