Would you like to have a picnic on the Mach Loop?

Question

The Mach Loop is a ring of deep-sided valleys in the middle of wales used for low level flying training. Although all of Wales is a low flying area the Mach Loop is a popular place to have a picnic and watch planes as they fly beneath you, some come very close and wave or hold up messages.

Obviously this is popular with little boys and plane spotters but would it appeal to you?

I would indeed.

I'd bring my folding chairs/table, Mumm's Champagne, cashew nuts and strawberries and have a big time.

Put WW2 Warbirds through it, like the Mustang, Spitfire (with the Griffon engine), Lancaster, B-29, BF109 and the P38 through it and I might have an unexpected sexual response.

Since I am in a rush, I'll take a A-10 Warthog instead.

I remember my father telling me about a man who was getting annoyed at low-flying aircraft over his house. He complained to the RAF, who said they never flew under 250 feet. "Good", he said, "because my kite strings are only 200 feet long". It got quieter after that.

Apparently, the other response to complaints about low flying jets was "Really, Sir, did you get his number?"

As a big fan of military aviation, who had considered an Air Force career, of course I would enjoy such a picnic. Preferably during a big training week.
