Do you love pool parties?

I am invited on one of the biggest pool parties in Shanghai next week but I don’t know, why am I such a homebody but I don’t feel like going.

I also feel bad about declining that friend’s invitation twice already.

He also invited me to join a dinner together with friends the very first day in Shanghai, saying he knows lots of people in Shanghai and he wants me to know them too, so I won’t feel lonely in Shanghai. We are just on friendly terms.

What should I do there with strangers. If I had any close friends there, I’d go.

If you are such a homebody that likes alone time to chill in private, why would you move to a surveillance state in a communist country and join a city of over 26 million people to live in a shoe box where you can't breath fresh air? You lose your marbles or something?

Not great big ones like that , some people closer together with a BBQ no problem , I would not feel comfortable if like the picture , too big.

I am same, I loved pool parties back in my country with my friends.

As long as I don’t have to enter water. I used to as a kid before my injury, now the buoyancy floats the shoulder head and irritates it. So I avoid swimming in deep water. But it didn’t stop me from scuba diving.

Also not a big fan of public pools. That’s a whole ‘nother story.

I like a pool party, but a very intimate one. Nothing huge like that. Plus the germs would gross me out

@Jennz6 Of course! But for people who are not nudists, it can be a difficulty. My understanding is that nudism in China is very limited, though it has become more Wewstrernized in other ways over the last 30 years.

In any event, sometimes inviting a girl to an event where she must wear a bikini is an indirect way of expressing interest and I am just wondering if this is an issue for Asker.

That man is not Chinese, he’s a foreigner, young man, very successful architect and has had seen his fair share of pretty girls nude I am sure. But yep, I don’t feel like going.

Yes. Plus my visa expires and I don’t have enough time to renew it in time; so I kinda have no idea if I am going to still he here 3 days later. That adds up to depression.

Of course you must do what makes you feel comfortable, but consider attending because it's easier to act your way into a new way of feeling than it is to feel yourself into a new way of acting. I. e., force yourself to do normal things and you will feel better sooner than if you simply wait to feel better before becoming more active.

I’d feel the exact same way I don’t do well with crowds but I do a little bit better when I’ve had a drink or two. With that being said maybe you should go for it could be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
