I've been to both.
I, personally, like Long Beach more despite being largely dangerous.
There are safe & appealing sectors such as Shoreline Village and the stretch of Ocean Blvd that leads to beautiful Belmont Shores.
Arizona just bores me to death.
Beach life is exciting.

  There are areas in LB that are constantly having various crimes.

  I have properties in LB, in areas that used to be completely safe.
  
  Now, the neighborhood is being infested with undesirables (especially thieves).

Long Beach seems more beautiful with the ocean and trees and there is a lot of beautiful and sexy people there. Also I think not only Scottsdale but Arizona is always so very hot and dry during summer.

Been to Phoenix/Scottsdale. It's boring. The weather is the same all summer long. Few trees - lot of sameness in architecture and even the color of houses and roofs.
Not been to Longbeach, but it can't be as bad as Scottsdale.

  That's in the spring time, it's usually a lot less green. I used to ride my bike down that hill all the time to the beach in the Long Beach picture. Used to live 1 mile from there for 10 years
